My current 21-year-old self actually liked my sixteen-year-old self a lot. At sixteen I had some pretty interesting thoughts on life that were genuinely profound and beautiful.

I've recycled in my life: high school yearbooks (even though I was the editor-in-chief), wedding albums (that I made after I decided I was getting divorced) and countless letters from childhood friends. But my diaries? Aw, hell no.

Aw, remember LiveJournal? I still go back to check on old friends, though it feels like visiting a ghost town (and confronting unpleasant former versions of myself can be ... unpleasant).

Every once in a while, I'll read some article about how keeping a journal is good for managing stress, and I'll feel tempted to start up a diary again. Then I get over it.
