It sounds like the new xoJane office is pretty awesome, doesn't it? I'm already jealous of their purple walls. I'm looking forward to more information as Jane and everyone else settles in.

It might just be possible that I'm looking forward to hearing how much they like it there because I'll be settling into my own new place pretty soon. After almost 20 years of living in Orlando, FL, I am packing everything up so I can relocate to the Washington, D.C. area with my husband and all of our pets.

It feels like I've been here forever, and I've already cried a bunch over the people and weather I'll be leaving behind. But I'm also really excited about the new people we'll get to meet and the new places we'll get to explore. I'm less excited about winter but I'm willing to give sweaters and coats a try.

Tragically, I had to sell my squid. He takes up so much space!

Before all of that, though, I have to pack.

As we pack this week, we're also going to be separating things out for a big yard sale this weekend. That will be its own adventure because we've never had a yard sale before. I think it'll be fun.

xoJane friends, what is your best packing/moving advice? Do you go room by room? Do you hire movers? Do you throw everything in garbage bags the night before you have to be out of your old place and hope for the best? (I only did that once and I was 19.)

And if packing and moving isn't your jam, consider maybe one of these questions instead:

  • If you could live anywhere at all, where would you live?
  • Have you ever had a near-death experience?
  • Have you ever played team sports?
  • What's your favorite emoji and does it really express how you're feeling or is it just cool?
  • What's the very best take-out or delivery where you are, the dish that always makes a busy day more manageable?

That's it for the official business of this Open Thread, which means now it's time for the absolute best part: your comments. You know what to do!
