Hello, favorite party people, and welcome back to a very frosty and tropical edition of "That One Drink." Last week, we talked about all of those fantastic beverages that just begged to be consumed at the seaside. The winner was brought to us by my good friend SomminSneakers, because she is flawless.
I love hello_darlings answer of Malibu and lacroix. Malibu and pineapple. Malibu and Gatorade. Malibu and iced tea.
Like I don't care how successful at 'craft' I get, Malibu is always appropriate at the beach.
1.5 ounce vodka/rum
Half a can of lacroix-coconut
Freeze overnight in water bottles(leave an few inches free). In the morning, add a few ounces of la croix to the space, toss in a cooler, and shake when you get to drinking, should be nice and slushy :)
I did just what she described, and the results were more delicious than I could ever hope for.
Okay. So I recognize that this is not the most ~refined~ beverage we've featured here, but I am so HERE FOR IT, you don't even know. Coconut and pineapple are literally the beachiest flavors you can enjoy, and this has both, my darlings, this has both.
SomminSneakers gets a freaking trophy, and that trophy is "Brandy" by Looking Glass because chest hair, and bars, and ships and stuff.
By the way, if you are in doubt as to whether I truly enjoyed this beverage, I give you this photo of me trying to capture myself drinking it:
Drunk people are not great at DSLR cameras, it turns out.
Moving on. This next topic was a request from a reader who no longer drinks ethanol. I will admit that, at first, I was like "you have missed the point of this column," but that's unfair. This column is for everyone who enjoys a delicious beverage, whether it contains booze or not.
Also, it's fair to point out that sometimes we all need a good mocktail. Sometimes alcohol is not the best option, yet we should not be denied our right to enjoy a delicious liquid.
I'll admit that my "not drinking" option is kind of cheating, for it is soda water and bitters. There is technically alcohol in this, but it's so little, I don't really count it. Other than that, it's Diet Coke. La Croix is also a good option.
But what I want to know from you is: what do you drink when you're "not drinking"? What beverage do you consume when you've consumed too many? Feel free to include "optional" booze for your suggestions. I will taste them side by side.
