With a big, pretty bow, even shitty gifts can look amazing.

It’s my favorite time of the year -- the time when it’s not weird to wear ugly sweaters or ask an old man with flying animals for presents! Regardless of what winter holiday you celebrate (if you’re celebrating), I’m sure many of you will be giving your loved ones a gift. Why not spice things up and surprise everyone with a crafty, professional-looking bow? I’m going to teach you how to tie a gorgeous bow that will add a personal touch to a holiday gift, or make a shitty present look more impressive. It’ll only take you a couple of minutes. Happy holidays y’all!

See step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1: Start with a wrapped box.

Step 2: Tie the wire-edged ribbon around the flat edges of your box to frame your bow. Secure a knot and leave two little arms hanging. The length of ribbon used will be at least twice the length of your box.

Step 3: Begin forming your bow by wrapping the ribbon around your palm in an oval shape. The amount of ribbon used will depend on the size of the bow you want. Use more ribbon for bigger bows. Make sure there are four loops on each side, and trim any residual ribbon. Step 4: Next, use those weird little arms from step two to tie a square knot around the center of your bow.
