Emily McCombs derserves a reward for all she does, including but not limited to doing the don't of being sexy on Halloween, so I come bearing tidings of tribute and snack -- undeniably adorable Em-O-Lantern stencils for every day of the work week, and the promise of cake...recipes!
Let's start with cake, because I said so. I really wanted to find a cake-in-a-jar recipe for you guys, and I ended up on a blog called Sunshine and Carousels by indie business owner and designer, Erin Wilson, that has an addictive crazy-sweet retro feel. It reminded me of Emily.
So get a load of this: I click over to her etsy shop and of course I love every bow, fascinator, headband, and ascot (and you KNOW Emily would, too), but I also notice Sunshine and Carousels is located in Tulsa! OKLAHOMA GIRL THEME, Y'ALL. Now THAT'S spooky. Sorry, trying to tie it back to Halloween.
Erin Wilson posted three cake-in-a-jar recipes recently and they are a goldmine of deliciousness: Apple Cheesecake Cupcakes, Salted Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake Cakes (omg, seriously this is killing me), and Salted Caramel Chocolate Cakes. We all have to make these and buy everything from her shop. Erin Wilson works hard to bring the cute!
Just like our Ms. Em! **Segues-R-Us**
Voila. Oklahoma, Brooklyn, and xoJane's pride [I am so embarrassed right now. ] , in clickable pdf form for your pumpkin stenciling plaisir (pleasure):
So to recap: go to the Sunshine and Carousels blog, make these cakes-in-jars, buy all the beyond amazing accessories in Erin Wilson's Etsy shop, stencil some pumpkins, take pictures of your handywork and email pics to me: firstname.lastname@example.org.
As usual, more costume talk and dish your Halloween plans, pleeeeeeeease. Oh, and here's a pic of me a couple Halloweens ago:
