You deserve it.

Hello, everyone! Apologies for the brief vacation from OOTW, the last few weeks of my life have been absolutely cuckoo, and I'm just now getting a moment to catch my breath.

Earlier this week, it was my birthday (wahoo, fun) and for the first time in a long time, I had some money left over after paying my bills. Since I rarely ever shop outside of thrift stores and the occasional pluck from the H&M sale rack, I decided to take myself on a little shopping day and pick up something I'd had my eye on.

I wandered into an American Apparel, home of the very-overpriced-yet-sweatshop-free-basic-garment and found myself eyeing this here bodysuit. While it's $32 in the U.S.,  it's currently $42 here in Canada thanks to our dollar taking a nosedive these past few months.

But I tried the dang thing on anyway and it was just so perfect. The coy lil' mock neck, the fact that it was a bodysuit (I tuck everything in, so the stays-tucked-in factor is very appealing) and the open back was just the icing on the cake. And while the price tag is out of my typical range for something seemingly so simple, I had to have it. For my birthday, c'mon!

I think a birthday is a good enough reason for splurging on a treat, but I want to know, what's the silliest reason you've ever given yourself for buying something that was outside of your usual budget?

While you mull that over, let's take a look at some of the best outfits you shared with me last time.

FrejaThorshammer stole my heart with THE sequinned jacket to rule all other sequinned jackets, describing it as something that would be equally loved by old churchgoing grandmas and David Bowie alike. I am totally down with that descriptor and think we should all work towards such a look.

All of the sparkles.

All of the sparkles.

I was also alllll ABOUT derekgirl's '70s with a touch of '90s look, featuring these cropped wide-legged jeans that my short legs could never pull off, but Ms. Thing here gets it just perfectly. I also always love a turtleneck.

Stylish simplicity at its finest.

  • What have you guys been wearing since we last talked?
  • What was the last thing you splurged on?
  • What will you be wearing this weekend?

Tell me all the things and post photos to prove it!
