I basically called my mom for help. Except when I say mom, I mean an esthetician.
I'm obsessed with both Korean skincare products and subscription services, so the fact that I found another beauty box that marries both addictions is both a blessing (to my skin) and a curse (to my wallet). In all fairness, though, I've really cut back on the number of subscriptions I get every month, partially because I've run out of storage space and partially because, in my adulthood, I feel this pressure to be fiscally responsible. Sigh.
Anyway, I've been getting Beauteque's Mask Maven subscription for a couple months now, which costs $13 for approximately nine curated masks. That's a pretty smoking deal, honestly, and it allows me and my BF to do the whole mask and chill thing on the regular. I recommend it.
Today, though, I'm talking about the Beauteque BB Box, a separate monthly subscription box that costs $24 a month. The box usually contains six trendy Korean beauty products and, true to beauty box subscriptions, the actual value of the items is typically much higher than what you pay (usually triple).
I got my first box this past month, which I've unboxed below.
Milky Dress Deo Essence Soft Armpit Cream
I love that Koreans don't beat around the bush with their titles. This armpit cream is intended to soften your underarm area, as well as even out pigmentation caused from shaving. It also helps with sweat and stank, but I'm not going to ditch my usual deodorant just yet. I think it'll be a good one to throw in my purse for quick, on-the-run refreshers.
Purpletale 5 Steps to Lovely Skin
This is the first sheet mask I've seen like this, and I've seen a lot of sheet masks, people. In addition to the sheet, it contains foil packets of the following: foam cleanser, ampoule, facial moisturizer, and neck cream. So basically, it's an entire skincare regimen in one sheet mask package. Perfect for an overnight.
Light Blocking Sleeping Eye Mask
Moving right along in this travel themed box: Here we have a pretty standard eye mask. It's not my favorite in the world, but it does keep out light, so that's good.
Secret Kiss Chubby Jelly Lip Tint Pack
If you're at all familiar with the Korean beauty scene, you've probably seen these jelly lip tint packs before. You apply a thicky, syrupy goo to your lips, let it set, and then peel it off to reveal slightly stained lips. It's pretty high-maintenance for me, but I do appreciate the novelty of it.
Esfolio Pure Snail Moisture Soothing Gel
More goo! This time, true to Korean beauty trends, it's in the form of snail goo. I actually like this stuff a lot. It contains 85% snail mucin to help soothe and repair skin, making it perfect after a day spent outside. It smells powdery and clean and has a sort of aloe-like texture, which is what I think they were going for.
Inner Skin Soothing Cleansing Water
This is a toning water cleanser that helps remove makeup. I've used it a couple times, each time as I would micellar water. That entails using it as a follow up after my regular cleanser to remove anything left behind, or in the morning to clarify, tone and cleanse before starting my daily routine.
So, the total value of all the items above, not including the cosmetic bag, is $65.50. Not bad, eh? And I have already used, and will continue to use, all of the items included. Feels like $24 well spent!
