How-To: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Brown Smoky Eye

Using a few products I had on hand, I recreated the Olsen twins look from the 2011 CFDA fashion awards.

Last night, the Olsen twins showed up to the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards with matching eye make-up (how sisterly of them), a simple, smudged and smoky eye look with brown tones. Using a few products I had on hand, I recreated the look myself and think it would be perfect for a night out.

What I Used To Get The Look: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Gash ($17, urbandecay.com), Avon Smooth Minerals Eyeliner in Black (no longer available, try Jillian Dempsey for AVON Professional Kohl Eyeliner in Black, $3.99, avon.com), and Pixi Eye Beauty Palette in Minimum ($28, target.com)

First, using the palette, blend the chocolate brown shade (bottom row, second from right), with the pale pink shade (top row, far left) onto the entire eyelid with a large fluffy brush. Next, line the upper and lower waterlines (the inner ridges) of your eyelids with the black liner, and smudge it out into the lashlines as well.

Then use an angled eyeliner brush to blend the Urban Decay shadow into the lashline, smudging the liner outward. Blend it along the bottom lashline to lessen the intensity of the black liner. The final step? Add a lengthening mascara for long, spiky lashes. I used Lancome's Définicils in Black ($25, lancome-usa.com).
