I tend to stick to just a few colors in this palette, but today, I'm branching out to show you its versatility.

I've been keeping my eye makeup pretty low-key these days. I often just do a wash of something subtle and neutral on my lid, apply a coat or two of mascara, and then wear a splashy lip color that brings everything together. It's easy to do, and I don't feel naked walking out the door.

For that reason, my go-to product at the moment is the newish Paula's Choice Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette, created in collaboration with YouTube's Wayne Goss. It's loaded with a thoughtful spectrum of 11 matte shadows and one pale, shimmery shade you can use for highlighting. The colors are very silky, pigmented and have impressive longevity. Because they're mattes, though--and because they're so rich--they can be a little tricky to work with. The key is to use a light hand and blend, blend, blend.

While lately I've stuck to using the left side of the palette, today I'm branching out a little bit to show you its versatility. Get ready for three eyeshadow looks: one that's super-subtle, but defining; one that's slightly darker and perfect for everyday wear; and a smoky eye that's begging you to take it out for late-night cocktails.

Consider this first look a few steps past your standard "no-makeup makeup" look. It quietly defines the eyes and is super-pretty.

This next look is a medium ground between the last one and the next one.

I consider this final look pretty dramatic. It's not something I'd wear all the time, but it's definitely striking!

What's your favorite neutral palette? Do you tend to use the same few colors over and over?
