Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
Earlier this week, we posted a throwback image on Instagram—and not on a Thursday, blasphemously—of Kelly LeBrock as Lisa in Weird Science, a movie that celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 2nd. It only seemed right; LeBrock's curls and neutral yet dramatic makeup—OK, and her amazing genetics—made her an '80s beauty icon.
I mean, this was the "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" lady. Not everyone can get away with saying that without making an entire national audience guffaw incredulously. As a little girl, I was like, "Not only do I not hate you, I aspire to be you."
But there's another movie celebrating its 30th anniversary; a movie that has what I consider a beauty icon in his own right, and his name is right in the title: Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
Yes, Pee-wee Herman.
I know. You're probably like, Marci, no. (I'm hearing that in my head in Rachel's voice.) But listen to reason!
Pee-wee Herman's blush is ON POINT. Always. His cheeks are fabulously rosy at all times; the application seems a bit heavy-handed, but it somehow works. And his skin? Matte porcelain perfection.
And I swear, throughout Pee-wee's Big Adventure, it looks like he's wearing Clinique Black Honey on his lips in varying intensities.
I may or may not have asked Kelly to do a Pee-wee Herman beauty tutorial in honor of the character's iconic first film (a top-10 favorite of mine). Her post-shave hair is the perfect length right now! Maybe if we all beg her in the comments...? (No pressure, Kelly. Well, not much.)
But of course, feel free to talk about pretty much anything in the comments—emphasis on the pretty. For example:
- Who's your '80s movie beauty icon?
- Do you remember Kelly LeBrock's Pantene commercials?
- What's your favorite blush for a rosy-cheeked look??
