I’m having trouble coming up with an interesting lede for this story because ugh, heat. I went on a run today guys! And it was about 9000 degrees!
As you can see in my video below, I’m kind of huffy and upset about it. This whole exercise business just exacerbated the serious issue I face this time of year: being really sweaty all the time. I mean yes, I shower and use deodorant on occasion, but what do you do about your face? I finally figured it out last summer: primer.
Makeup primer is little baby Jesus’s gift to sweaty-faced girls like me. It acts as shield between your face and your foundation, allowing your makeup to last all day. (Which is ideal, yeah?) There are a ton of formulas on the market, but I’m pretty ride or die for MAC Prep + Prime Fortified Skin Enhancer in Illuminate. It gives your skin a nice glow, lasts forever, AND it’s SPF 35. Here’s how I use it with my regular makeup. Oh, and I include a hot weather hair tip as an added bonus (!)
So I used the Mac primer, Dr. Jart Black Label BB cream, Mac Pro Longwear Concealer, and Covergirl pressed powder. 4 products and you’re done! This routine keeps my skin looking fresh all day and just does not sweat off, even in the bowels of the New York City subway system.
Oh, and if you’re nervous about committing to a slightly pricey primer, try Rimmel Fix & Perfect Foundation Primer instead (under $8 at Ulta.com). It’s a good sub-in for the MAC version, save for the fact that it doesn’t have SPF.
