With temperatures in New York City reaching unbearable new heights, I'm not wearing much in the way of clothing. It's too hot outside for modesty! The trouble with stripping down? There's so much bruised, bumpy, broken-veined skin suddenly on display. Now that my limbs are more exposed than they have been in months, the quickest way to disguise less than perfect skin and feel more attractive is by applying self-tanner.

In honor of July 4th week, I asked the reigning queen of all-American hotness Carmen Electra to tell me how she gets her signature hot-girl tan.
"When I moved to LA a lot changed for me. I cared more about my appearance, I knew what I wanted to do with my career. I bought little self-tanners and used those all the time. And then when Mystic Tan came out it was like wow this is the greatest thing ever. When you have that extra bit of color, for me it makes me feel prettier.
I grew up in Ohio where we would just lay out in the sun all summer. You want to relax, feel that heat, doze off a little. I know people like to double up -- going to tanning beds and using fake tan. And Crisco. You would hear that it was bad for your skin and just kind of overlook it. You want to be tan and you’re young. You don’t ever think that you could get skin cancer. You just don’t believe it."
That's all I've got today. What are your favorite self-tanners? Self-tanning tips? Tomorrow Amanda Lepore tells me about her signature red lips!
