BEAUTY BREAK-IN: Shh, I'm Sneaking Into Cat's Room at Shutters!

What's in her bathroom, suitcase and mini-fridge?

Before we left New York, Cat was dead set on staying at her favorite Hollywood haunt -- you know, the one that Lindsay Lohan often calls home

"Shutters on the beach is a honeymoon spot!"
she declared when I told her where I had us booked instead. "Shutters is where couples go to save their marriages!"

Whatever, that's a valid point, but minutes from Pier 59 Studios where our MakeUnder shoot would take place, Shutters was also practical and convenient. Not to mention ultra-serene and luxurious.

On our last morning, I broke into Cat's room and shot a video tour. Check it out:

Here's a recap of what I found:

Tarte Rising Star Palette, $25: The box set in Cat's bathroom is no longer available, but this portable palette features a lot of the same makeup essentials. Personally, the blushes and bronzers are my favorite; perfect for faking a California glow.

Bobbi Brown Face Brush, $42: Cat swears by this big fluffy brush to put on everything from bronzer to highlighter to a pop of blush on her cheeks.

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel, $11: I've told you about this stuff before, It's my favorite at-home alternative to Bake Spray Tanning, and even Cat -- an open UV-sunbed user -- loves it too.

Bedroom Kandi Make Me Over, $89: The ultimate sex toy for beauty editors, this compact shaped "body massager" is so discreet you could keep it in your makeup bag. Unless of course you don't bother to take it out of the box, like Cat.

We're both back in New York City now and I'm missing Santa Monica a lot. In fact, I could totally live there. Let's talk about it. What do you love (or loathe) most about the West Coast? Go!

Even if you're not staying at Shutters, we here in the beauty department of xojane.com LOVE and highly recommend ONE THE SPA. Check out their brand new treatment menu featuring Red Flower products. You can book a reservation at 310-458-0030 or through their website ShuttersOntheBeach.com.
