If I added up the time I spend watching football, researching players, and writing weekly fantasy recaps for my league, it would probably be at least a part-time job.
Any other 19 year old might let nerves get the better of them when faced with competing on Athletics biggest stage alongside the sport’s most celebrated stars but not our new favourite Scouse lass Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

A vision of calm and poise she took her place on the field and managed to come an impressive 15th out of 32 athletes in the heptathlon, setting a new personal best, and breaking the junior British record.
With so many of Team GB’s gold winning Olympians bowing out after these games it’s some comfort to know we have the next wave of future champions ready and waiting in the wings, because mark our words, she is one to watch.
Already being touted as “the new Jessica Ennis” after she smashed Ennis’ youth record by 97 points in May and after her success on ‘Super Saturday’ she is now the new world junior long jump champion.
Not only is she ferociously talented but she’s also one of our bubbliest up and coming stars gushing youthful exuberance in her post-trials interviews. Giddy with excitement but never boastful and full of praise for her fellow athletes and her home crowd, she has the personality and the ability to become one of our nations most treasured Olympians.
