A few days after my bed bugs incident, I started losing my mind. I checked out of my apartment and am living out of one tote bag in friends' homes. I've landed for several days in a two-bedroom railroad apartment where the main residents -- my dear friends, who are a couple -- are out of town.

Of the four of us crashing here, only one was given her own set of keys. This one with the keys is from Brazil and her girlfriend is currently visiting from back home; the other two of us ... well, I'm here fleeing parasites and the other is fleeing a bad breakup.

I didn't know any of these people until I suddenly started living with them communally, instantly sharing basically everything from food to shoes to money to intimate emotional space. It's quite a scene, this hostel for wayward queers. I feel like I joined a very temporary gang.

I woke up one morning to the adorable Brazilian couple out in the garden being the cutest lezzies in the whole world. One was dyeing the other's gray roots to Prince. This is the tender stuff that makes my heart melt, and makes me so happy to be gay.

Ohmygod. When's the last time you saw something cuter than this NOT involving baby animals?
