As promised, the xoJane staff has worked collaboratively (with you) to develop new public commenting guidelines. We’ve created two sets of guidelines: one that is generally applicable, and a second set specific to our contributors and editors. The fact is, the comments of contributors and editors are read differently than those of you who don’t work here, and so we want to acknowledge that those of us with the loudest voices on xoJane need to choose our words extra carefully when we’re communicating with you all.

We hope that these new policies will help clarify what is and isn’t acceptable in comments. Of course, as always, these guidelines are a work in progress (we’re all still really in love with that as a new tagline, by the way) and we welcome your suggestions. These are not rules carved in stone, but may be adjusted in the future as we continue to figure this out.

So! Got questions, or ideas, or important points we may have overlooked? Let us know, either in comments below or via email to madeline@xojane.com. And thank you, again, for being such a strong and opinionated community!
