File this under things we can’t believe technology hasn’t revived sooner: Light-up sneakers are back! We first saw the Buffalo boots above one week ago at Ashish‘s London Fashion Week show, after which it was announced they’d be launched as part of the Topshop x Ashish collaboration in May. This is great news for any ’90s nostalgic who’s mom thought blinking neon lights were not a vital function of shoes (mine), or who has contributed to the Google Autofill search “buy light-up shoes for adults” (me).

But then we stumbled across this collaboration sneaker from adidas and Japanese retailer, atmos. These shoes look like normal white Superstar 80s in the daytime, but light up neon in the dark. The very epitome of a work-to-night transitional piece (sorry not sorry, wrap dresses). Spring is looking brighter already.

The adidas babies are available come March 1 on the atmos website for a mere $146, but if you absolutely cannot wait until Saturday, you can DIY a pair of LED Firewalkers using an LED strip, sneakers, and batteries, a little hand-eye coordination, and this tutorial that made the rounds last year but that we were too lazy to take seriously:

And if you internetted at all last week, you’ll have heard of the ultimate marriage of nostalgia and technology: The self-tying power laces from Back to the Future that Nikepromised to gift unto us in 2015. It’s not clear whether these will be a feature of the Nike Air Mag they originally released in 2011, or an entirely new shoe. Do you even care though? They’re basically magic.
