I’m always a bit dubious about celeb friendships - particularly ones that involve the Beckhams.
I can sort of see Victoria trying to ingratiate herself in with Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsdale through a series of girly lunches, but I can’t escape the feeling that David Beckham would rather be in the pub with one of the Neville brothers than hanging out with Tom Cruise. Probably because a fun night with Tom Cruise would involve watching the entire back catalogue of Tom Cruise films in his private cinema and drinking anti-ageing smoothies.
So, it was heartening to hear that at least one of their celebrity friendships is the real deal. TV Chef and professional potty mouth Gordon Ramsay has revealed that the Beckhams were amazing friends while he was publically falling out with his father-in-law, and generally having A Very Bad Week.
Speaking about the lawsuit with his father-in-law, Ramsay told the Sun: 'David and Victoria were just extraordinary in terms of the help and support during this time.
'They really were great. People thought we were going to escape the UK and go and live in LA permanently.'
The Beckhams are a hugely successful power couple with the world’s most photogenic family. And now it turns out they’re amazing mates as well. Come on D&V – ditch the Cruises and come and hang out with me instead – I’m much more fun, and I’ll never make you sit in a Scientology sauna.
