Alexander Wang Fabiana Sandal $495, Shopbop

When it comes to shoe accessories these days, the field looks pretty bleak. Gone are the days of multiple multi-color shoe laces and those little thingies that you put on them so that they wouldn't come untied.

Nobody really wears spats anymore, although some fashion-y kids have been trying to make it happen for a bit, and shoe clips are a thing of the past, too.

Our shoes roam the world naked and sans accessories, totally heartbroken.

Well, not if Alexander Wang has anything to do with it! For his fall collection he took the superwoman vibez that permeated his collection and brought the world of shoe accessories back to life by fabricating tiny leather capes that attach via an ankle strap to his barely-there strappy sandals.

"What a useless addition to a shoe!" you think, but you are wrong! These contraptions serve to protect the back of your feet from disgusting puddle water, wayward loogies and the occasional pee-splash from when you squat down in a hidden corner somewhere cause the line to the bathroom is like an hour long. (When you gotta go, you gotta go.)

But mostly, they are a ridiculously fun addition to your wardrobe and the best way to showcase your hidden superpowers without having to wear a slutty Wonder Woman costume on Halloween. And that's something we can all strive for.
