What YOU Taught Us About Style This Week: It's Still Jacket Season Somewhere (Just Not In LA)

I'm comin' atcha from the sweltering West Coast this week, which is exactly why I have a bad case of Reader Jacket Envy.

I’m writing to you today from the set of the new David Lynch movie Olivia Backpacks Through Los Angeles Without A Drivers License. As you can guess from the name, the plot is based on my life right now.

I’m a born NYC girl, but sometimes I just have to get out of dodge and try something weird and new. So, I took the underground NYC → LA tunnel that runs under the enitre country and I’ve been here for a few days. Can you expect a montage of me and fashion wizard and Alison Freer tearing up stripper clothing discount stores? Maybe. Stay tuned.

Anyway, I'm baking in the 100 degree temperatures here in Hollywoodland. People keep telling me it is “the desert” and I need to “layer,” but every day, I feel like my skin is going to melt off (I swear, I’m having a good time). So, it's kind of ironic that the reader outfits that inspired me the most this week all involved some sort of chic, in-between-seasons jacket. I honestly won't mind if I still need mine when I get back home. I miss the chillier air. But let's talk about you now, shall we?

First, we have Esther in a totally dope trench coat that makes her look all mysterious like she could be the lead in a dark, TV drama called “Masonic P.I.” or something (I'm still in David Lynch brain space). In reality, Esther was actually channeling an iconic movie character from the 80s.

If you want a good quality trench that you'll have forever, you could mosey on over to your nearest Burberry store and get the O.G. But you know what I like to do to find classic pieces? I hit up thrift stores. Trenches practically get forklifted into every Goodwill and Salvation Army, so finding a nice one that fits isn't as hard as you might think.

Now let's turn our attention to Julia who should have been studying for finals, but was too busy posting her outfit on xoJane. Even though I can't see all of her jacket, it reminded me that a motorcycle jacket is very high on my list of Things I Don’t Need, But I NEED.

Finally, say hello to Stella, who looks like a badass in her denim and black dress combo. True story: I’ve been borrowing my travel buddy’s jean jacket pretty much every day since we got here and I am afraid I’ll be cold when she takes it back. Just kidding. I’ll never be cold here!

Alright, here are a few ways you can get in on all this transitional spring jacket action:

Alright kids, it's your turn now. Let's see what you've got!
