Having an organized and stylish place to keep your weed that you can leave out in plain sight is an option any adult deserves.
Here’s a fact that you may find hard to believe: I hate shopping for clothes. I would rather eat the brown part of a banana than trek around New York (I envy anyone who lives near a mall), spending hours standing in dressing room lines just to try on yet another pair of pants that barely reach my ankles.
This disdain for shopping doesn’t mean that I hate fashion, obviously. If you know me, you know that I live for owning new things. Yay material possessions! The pursuit is what frustrates me – patience is not my strongest virtue.
On the other hand, shopping for accessories is one of my favorite activities. I can spend an entire afternoon at a store trying on clothing and leave without even a sock, but I always, always, always leave with jewelry. Can anyone else relate to this? My neck and wrists are pretty – I want them to have outfits too!
Alright, so there’s actually a point to why I’m mentioning this. Last week Emily forwarded a jewelry event invitation to me, and I was all yasssss because of the promise of free margaritas -- it was Cinco de Mayo, give me a break. Fashion events make me feel special, so I always go. (Jane was there too, but it was so crowded we couldn't get across the room to each other!)
The event in question was celebrating a jewelry collaboration with DRESSBAR, which is basically a curated collection of dresses at Dress Barn. To be perfectly honest, I had never set foot in a Dress Barn, but listen – their dresses are actually really adorable and wearable. I was so surprised to see an assortment of patterns and silhouettes that I could actually envision myself wearing.
Anyway, back to the accessories. TRUE by Tuleste designer sister-duo Satu and Celeste Greenberg (I see what you ladies did there), created the only branded accessories collection sold under Dressbar. You guys – I’m going to OD on the caps lock right now - THEIR STUFF IS SO CUTE, I CAN’T!
LOOK AT THIS BEE NECKLACE!!! IT’S LIKE AN INSECT BOLO TIE!!!! BEYONCÉ WOULD WEAR THIS!! HI BEYONCÉ!!!
AND LOOK AT THIS GOLD ELEPHANT PENDANT!!!! (I need to stop screaming.)
OKAY I’M SCREAMING AGAIN BECAUSE THIS NECKLACE AND MATCHING EARRINGS LOOK LIKE THE MACARONI!!!!
Alright, I’m done. Let me catch my breath. I just had to let you all know that such cute jewelry exists, at an accessible, low price point (every piece costs between $10 and $30).
Pendant necklaces are great conversation starters (“Hey, you like bees? I like bees!), and can fit varying levels of outfit formality. I find costume jewelry quality to be iffy at times, but this collection appears to be on the higher end of affordable accessories. The TRUE collection features a lot of brushed metal, a finish that I think always makes jewelry look more sophisticated. You can shop the rest of the collection (which includes more cute chains, stones, and flowers) on the Dress Barn website, but these are my absolute favorite and most highly recommended pieces.
Get it, DRESSBAR / Dress Barn / whoever you are. I apologize for underestimating you.
Is anyone else a sucker for jewelry featuring creatures of the animal kingdom?
