London Fashion Week: Day 1

At long last London Fashion Week is upon us and we’re going to be heading down to Somerset House soon to see what the designers have in store for Spring/Summer 2013.

I'm a bit tired and sweaty by this point so it's nice to bump into a friendly face -- Olivia Inge, model extraordinaire and xoJane contributor.

Everyone's taking pictures of everyone else. I decided to get a bit post modern and take an upside down shot of Lauren from Stylist's jazzy pink sandals. Actually that's a complete lie, my phone just took the picture without me realising.

Look at these two -- aren't they cute?

Corrie Nielsen's show was breathtaking -- inspired by her visits to Kew Gardens, it had an organic, fluid feel and a soft, natural colour palette of cream, blush pink, pale blue and buttercup yellow.

Maria Grachvogel's signature style is very fluid, feminine and seriously luxurious. For spring/summer 2013 she showed a collection that was light and bright with sporty details and striking prints.

The models' hair was slicked down at the front, then tightly braided into a stiff little pigtail at the back and fluffed up on top (frizz is in? this is a beauty look I can definitely get on board with.)

Everything seemed calm and organised backstage at Corrie Nielsen.

Our London Fashion Week Day 1 outfits: please note that we are both wearing FLATS because I'd rather not start LFW with a twisted ankle (those cobbles at Somerset House are lethal).

I'm wearing a Boden tweed jacket and denim shirt with a dark green COS skater skirt, black tights and my shiny new Russell & Bromley Chelsea boots! And all my LFW stuff is crammed into my Mulberry Alexa.

Rebecca is wearing Russell & Bromley brogues, a dress from Whistles and a khaki jacket that she 'borrowed' from her flatmate 10 years ago. Her bag is Marc by Marc Jacobs and the lipstick is MAC Ruby Woo.

I’ll be going backstage at Corrie Nielsen to catch up with the designer before her show this afternoon and we’ll be sneakily snapping the weird and wonderful clothes of the assembled fashion folk on the street.

You can watch a live stream of the shows here and we’ll be updating this page throughout the day with reports, pictures and random observations so keep checking back!
