Normcore has justified my on-point sock game.
As a vintage lover, I have forever been on the hunt for the perfect black leather biker jacket. I found one for my husband, but have never found one in my size.
I finally decided that it was a necessary item of clothing that I needed in my growing mostly-black wardrobe, and I added it to my Christmas list. My sister-in-law Secret Santa (thank you, Sara!) got it for me, and I pretty much want to wear it all the time.
This is actually a high-quality pleather, and it’s from—gasp!—American Eagle. It’s on sale now, but sadly, only in sizes medium and below.
While a biker style might not fit every wardrobe, I think there is a leather (or pleather) jacket for everyone, from the office to the music stage. And not only is pleather more affordable (and animal-friendly), but there are a lot of high-quality faux leather jackets out there these days.
Look for suit-like shapes with clean lines and minimalist sensibilities, like a leather blazer or a leather-trimmed jacket. Pair it with a silk blouse, great fitting trousers and black heels.
A lighter color softens the tough vibe of leather, as does a cascading front. Pair it with a floral or lace dress, tights, and ankle boots.
Black with heavy metal accents always looks cool. Pair it with a white tee, black jeans, biker boots. (Or a black tee, printed pencil skirt, tights and ankle boots like I did above!)
Look for retro pieces (or reproductions) with special touches. Pair them with a floral maxi dress and knee-high boots.
