Friday Fashion Loveliness (Velvet Special)

For no good reason other than the fact it’s Friiiiday, I’ve thrown together some lovely stuff that’s been making my superficial little heart beat a bit faster this week. Enjoy!

Hobbs leopard broochThere's no leopard print this week - instead I've found a real, live (enamel) leopard! It's made from 'vicuna enamel' and fastens with a gold-coloured pin. I like the faintly art deco-y vibes this brooch is giving off - just imagine it adding a little Poirot-esque dash to a jacket or scarf.

ASOS Africa Checked Shirt with PeplumThe latest collection from Asos Africa just dropped online and quite apart from the fact that MICHELLE OBAMA was photographed wearing a skirt from the S/S12 range, I think this is one of the best ethical lines around. I love the graphic simplicity of the houndstooth check on this wool shirt, which was handmade in Africa. I'd wear it with black jeans and white Converse, or a red pencil skirt and pumps for full-on Dynasty glamour. Well, why not?

COS Pleated velvet dressWell hello Wednesday Addams! Can't you just see Christina Ricci looking sullen in this pretty little velvet dress from COS? I think I might have just found my (faintly gothic) Christmas Day outfit.

H&M velvet pumpsWhat can I say? I’m going through a velvet phase right now. I love these burgundy pumps from H&M - the fabric is so opulent, I just want to stroke it. These fit neatly into the 'gothic romance' trend which so many designers embraced for autumn/winter but they're such a timeless design that they'll never go out of style.

Markus Lupfer hot water bottle coverEr, it's cosy and jolly - need I say more?

And remember those M&S neon-tipped cashmere mittens I was wittering on about the other week? Well I bought them and they arrived yesterday!

I'm also currently spending waaaay too long deliberating over which pair of black, wool, cropped trousers to purchase - will it be Boden, J.Crew or COS? It's a CONUNDRUM, I tell you! Are you a planner who spends ages researching before you buy, or do you shop impulsively? Share!
