Cool Stuff Phoebe Loves: Wet Autumnal Friday Special!

It’s Friday afternoon, we went to the pub at lunch and it’s raining. I'm struggling to string together a coherent sentence so I’ve decided to cheer myself (and hopefully you) up with a jolly selection of autumnal clothes and accessories.

Let’s enjoy them before the party season engulfs us in a tidal wave of sequins and bugle beads shall we?

She Works Hard for the Money coin purse, £4.50,

"She works hard for the money, so hard for it honey, she works hard for the money so you better treat her right." Oh Donna Summer, never a truer word was said (sung). Last night I was sitting in bed like a granny flicking through the V&A's Christmas catalogue and I saw this amazing coin purse (available to buy now). Incidentally, the V&A shop is the best place for gifts - there's always something witty, clever or stylish to be found there.

ASOS check midi skirt, £50,

There's something about this skirt that makes me think of Mary Poppins and Miss Marple - both excellent style icons. I would wear with ribbed black tights and heeled ankle boots. Plus it has pockets!

Falke Cosywool Cashmere Blend Ankle Socks, Pink, £14,

It's a scientific* fact that you can never feel sad when wearing pink cashmere socks. I'm going to pick up a pair of these the next time I'm in John Lewis (erm, and after payday) and wear them with shiny black patent brogues and cropped trousers - hey that ankle-baring trend isn't just for hipster boys you know.

Flannel Check Double Pocket Long Sleeve Shirt, £19.90,

I spent waaay too long stroking piles of these flannel shirts the last time I was in Uniqlo. I think I better just get one for myself and then the lovely staff won't have to deal with me manhandling their merchandise.

Leopard Court Shoes, £59.99,

As I've said many times before, style to me comes from juxtaposition and these Zara pumps are the ultimate example. That sturdy mid-height heel contrasts perfectly with the 'racy' (rarr!) leopard print fabric. They look chic in a classy Frenchwoman wearing a pencil skirt and heavily kohled eyes kinda way.

Fairisle Neon Sweater, £140, and Jamie Lace Collar Sweater, £60, both

See my point regarding contrast and juxtaposition above. A blue marl sweatshirt with a dainty lacy collar? A chunky traditional knit with a NEON Fairisle pattern? Oh Boutique by Jaeger, I love you.

Chelsea Knitted Varsity Jacket, £140,

Yep, another piece from Boutique by Jaeger - what can I say, they're on top form this season. Imagine this cute, retro jacket with a pleated skirt or navy, straight leg jeans - Buffytastic!

Pure Cashmere Fluro Tipped Knitted Gloves, £29.50,

I actually meant to buy these fingerless gloves from M&S last year, but I was too stingy. Foolish me - they're cashmere, they have neon pink trim and if I don't do something silly like leave them on a bus, they're a worthwhile investment.
