Turn Your Shower Into An Aromatherapy Chamber

Why should bath time get all the fun accessories?

I’ve been traveling for a few weeks, and as fun as tromping around the west coast was, it certainly wasn't relaxing.

By the time I arrived at my parents’ house in Florida (where I’m chilling for the next few weeks), all I wanted to do was unwind. There's just one problem: no bathtub to be found. Womp, womp.

Luckily for me, I have this Essio Aromatherapy Diffuser to try out. I’m a huge fan of using scents to relax, perk up, or otherwise change my mood, and this shower kit is perfect for such a task.

The kit comes with an aromatherapy arm that attaches to your shower head. A pod at the end of the arm drips essential oil into the stream of hot water, creating a steamy, fantastic smelling environment.

Clip in the pod of your choice and secure it by twisting until it locks. It's super easy and it only takes like two minutes. The starter kit comes with the attachment device and three scents: Breathe, Passion, and Unwind.

If you’re sensitive to scents, be careful about using these with heavily scented hair and body products, or make sure the smells don't clash.

Essio was generous enough to send me four of its six scents, and all of them were great. They’re also color coded, which is fun and handy.

I especially loved Breathe, which is supposed to help clear sinuses. I’m pretty much always congested/stuffed up, thanks to my allergy to NATURE. Hot showers usually help with my sinuses, but this scent--a mix of peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus, and cedar wood--extended the effect. It's also a bright and awakening way to start your day.

The other two scents in the starter kit, Passion and Unwind, are lovely as well. Passion mixes lavender, mandarin orange, and rose with a touch of patchouli and balsam for a shower experience that’s invigorating and sensual. Use this scent before a hot date, or maybe wait until he or she comes over...if you catch my drift. (It’s basically the “Pony” of aromas.)

Unwind is a de-stressing blend of citrus and florals. It’s lightweight and delicious. But my favorite was Night, a calming blend of lavender and bergamot with notes of ylang ylang, sage, and basil. I’m a huge fan of lavender to begin with, and this shower experience did not let me down. It’s perfect for a pre-bedtime shower, or any other time you could use some calming down.

Other scents include Wisdom, an earthy blend of citrus, spicy, and woody scents, and Clear, which combines florals, fruits, and mint for mental clarity.

All of Essio’s fragrance pods are 100 percent organic and sustainably made. The device works best on traditional, non-removable shower heads. Overall, I was extremely impressed with Essio’s Aromatherapy Diffuser and will definitely be using it regularly.

Are any of you into aromatherapy? How do you make shower time as relaxing as bath time?
