...or almost New Year. I'm not sure when you're reading this but just know that I want you to be happy.

Doing what I do, I get a lot of questions about beauty. I can't imagine why. Anyway, I thought (AKA Amber thought) this would be a good time for me to go back, think about the questions I get asked most frequently, and share them with you guys.

I hate sharing my secrets, but fine, I do what I'm told. I hope you enjoy this because this is only going to happen once a year.

You know what I’m so sick of hearing? “His nails look better than mine!”

Yeah, I know.

But like, shut up. You’d never say that to a girl. You're just pointing out that I'm a dude wearing nail polish which is nothing more than a backhanded compliment. Just be jealous and let me live.

Of course, the "you" I’m referring to is not you guys — you guys are perfect. I’ve let you in on how I get a 16 day at-home manicure, but I’ve since updated my lil' system so I wanted to keep you in the loop.

Speaking of my nails, the first question I always get is:

How Do You Get Them To Stay Perfect For So Long?

I was using the Butter London Top & Tails base and top coats, which I still love, but this year, I switched to Deborah Lippmann’s Gel Lab Pro system.

It’s a base and top coat system that, in my humble opinion, is little stronger and lasts longer than the Butter London system. The topcoat also dries down faster than Butter’s, which is a relief. It's the closet thing I've found to a gel manicure and my biggest rec if you want bulletproof polish (and you do.)

There’s one more thing that always helps my nails have that “fresh out the salon, biiitch!” look. Orange Wood Sticks! I know that may seem a little obvi but not a lot of people use them at home.

When I’m painting my nails, I always try to leave the most infinitesimal gap between my polish and my cuticle, just like all those girls on the nail blogs. You know the ones I’m talking about. If it looks uneven, I take the pointed end of the stick and run it around the top of my nail plate between the polish and the cuticle and it evens everything out so you have a perfect, clean edge of polish snuggling right up to your cuticle. If you’re still using a q-tip soaked in acetone to clean up your nails, cut that shit out and grab an orange stick. You can snag a pack of a hundred off of Amazon for like two dollars. There are literally no excuses for not having an bottomless stash of these at home.

How Do You Keep Your Hair Color Looking So Fresh?

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: Tynan's 2015 Hair Color Retrospective.

Maintaining pastel hair, or vibrantly color treated hair of any sort, can feel like walking a tight rope for the four to six weeks between salon appointments. Colors just fade so fast! Personally, if I’m going have the stupid-ass hair colors, I want them looking perfect all the time. If you’re gonna do it, then do it, you know? My color always looks perfect because I am perfect.

Also, because I use, live, and die, by oVertone.

oVertone is a collection of color depositing conditioners that come in every color of the rainbow and all in varying intensities, so no matter what color you have, from pastels to brights, you can keep them looking 100 hair all the time.

Now, I didn't originally achieve all the colors above using oVertone, only some, but I did maintain each and every one of them using oVertone after seeing my colorist.

The collection includes daily conditioners and weekly color treatments. The daily conditioner are meant for daily use, meaning you can actually wash your hair without worrying about drawing color out and rinsing it down the drain. The weekly treatments are a more intense color masque to fully replenish color you’ve lost.

You guys, oVertone seriously changed the game. I never have to worry about my color fading, I can actually wash my hair without worrying about ruining my color, and I can even change my color between appointments. Best of all, it’s conditioner, so it’s not going to damage your hair!

If your hair is light enough (or bleached light enough like mine) you can go any color you want without ever touching actual hair dye.

You have perfect skin. What do you use on your face?

OMG, thanks. I’m lucky enough to get a ton of skincare sent to me every week, so I get to try everything. I usually switch up what I’m using so I can road test all of the new products, but this year I was introduced to a few new mainstays. I’ve already written about this so I won’t bore you again, but let me just recap to show you I’m for real for real.

This year, I had a few more skin problems than usual. Every time my skin would start acting a fool, I’d start my day with Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb.

It stimulates cell turnover so I’ve you’ve got marks from blemishes that are taking their sweet time going away, this will speed up the process and have you back on ten in no time. It came through for me numerous times this year. In fact, I just gave it to my dad for Christmas! We'll see how that goes...

Now on to the next one — Eve Lom Brightening Cream. I detailed all of this cream’s benefits in a summer skincare article, but let me just restate how much I love the finish the cream leaves on your skin. It’s a gorgeous, diffused glow that I really can’t get enough of. It’s not too shiny, it’s not too slick. Even if it wasn’t a total dream for your skin, I’d be wearing it all the time.

I wear this whenever I’m going out and need to look fly, but am not wearing any makeup. I also discovered my new favorite foundation this year that I’m loving, but whenever I’m not throwing that on, I’m throwing this on.

What lipstick are you wearing?

Liquid matte lipsticks. Always. I love the pigmentation, the precision, and the stay power. My faves are from Kat Von D, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and ColourPop Cosmetics. MAC is releasing some new ones in a few weeks and the formula is gorgeous, you guys are going to love it.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the satin finish and added dimension of a normal lipstick bullet, or the velvety finish of a lip pencil, but if I need a lip color to last all night (because who really wants to worry about touch ups?) I’m reaching for one of these. What are your favorite liquid mattes? Show me in the comments. You’re all so hot.

WHAT Is Going On With Those Lashes?

I guess I couldn’t write this article without talking about my lashes because I get a lot of questions about them, from you guys especially. I liked a lot of the mascaras that came out this year, though none of them because my new ride or dies. And how about that clumping mascara? I expected a lot people to be all up in arms about it, but as it turns out, a lot of you love it. Have you tried it? What do you think? THESE are all the new drops that came out this fall, and THIS is when I showed you guys how to get lashes that rival falsies at home!

What are some of YOUR beauty secrets? Come on, you owe me. Show me your lipstick and makeup and New Year's Eve outfits in the comments!
