Today I want to talk to you about a product that I can’t take my eyes off of and that just so happens to work really well.

Yo, sometimes I just want to write about products simply because they’re real pretty. I am a beauty writer after all, that’s my job. Today I want to talk to you about a product that I can’t take my eyes off of and that just so happens to work really well.

SO PRETTY AH!

Is it a shadow? Is it a liner? Is it your new best friend? Yes, yes, and yes.

The shadow liner is a chunky pencil with a pretty substantial tip which draws shadow very smoothly without too much applied pressure. The formula is buttery smooth and very easy to work with, leaving behind rich, intense color. On the opposite end, there’s a smudger so you can blend it around your eyelid or create a great smoky eye.

Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner is available year-round in six colors with very exciting names (LUMINOUS FIG) but the one I am obsessing over today is a limited edition shade from their Fall 2013 “Fade To Black” collection called “Black Gold.”

I LIKE IT SO MUCH I COULD EAT IT. or something.

Go out and get this NOW because you’re going to love it, but it won’t be around for long. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

The color slides on and looks like a dirty olive gold, or like you applied black and then dusted gold over it. I really love the subtle metallic effect, it’s almost like a grungy copper, or a dirty penny (which, doesn’t seem like a very good way to convince you that something is actually pretty, but trust me). When you smudge it out, it really transforms the shadow. The gold is sheer enough to not be too in your face, but opaque enough to really catch light for a gorgeous shine.

I present to you: my awkward looking hand.

The shadow is a dream to work with so you can take it from a subtle look for the office to a dramatic, smoky eye for happy hour. Best of all, between the shadow pencil and the smudger, you don’t need to cart around any extra brushes. It’s all right there with you! Hashtag effortless.

The Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner is $22 and available online.
