I don’t know about y'all, but I am seriously over winter skin. On top of the normal dryness and cracked skin that settles in like a distant relative you really wish would leave already, I have this rare genetic skin condition called Netherton’s Syndrome that doesn’t mess around--especially during the frigid months of the year. And, while my face is holding up due to some heavy-duty moisturizers, my body is still majorly suffering.

So, when I came across the Skinfix products this summer in the Cosmopolitan beauty closet, I didn't think much would come of it. Naturally, I hoard everything that claims to soothe irritation or heal eczema-like rashes, but the majority of these products sadly fall short on their promises (sigh). So when I tried the Skinfix Body Repair Balm one fateful night in November in a desperate attempt to relieve my discomfort, I was dumbfounded to find that it ACTUALLY WORKED.

All hail Skinfix

No B.S. here, kids, this stuff is the bomb. As someone with the pinnacle of stressed-out skin, I can honestly tell you that this product will alleviate 95% of your issues, including dryness, irritation, cracked skin, etc. Skinfix is made with natural ingredients like sweet almond oil, colloidal oatmeal, and zinc oxide, along with a ton of protective oils, butters, and skin-loving botanicals. I applied the balm--which has a creamy, paste-like texture--over my most irritated areas before bed and by morning, my skin had dramatically improved. The redness had diminished almost entirely and my once-parched skin felt significantly more supple. My thought: Halle-freakin’-lujah.

Some background

Once I realized the miraculous powers of this healing balm, I immediately wanted to learn more. Skinfix was founded over 150 years ago. Their products are formulated with powerful natural ingredients--sans the synthetics and chemicals found in most products today. They are also completely free of steroids, which I've tried many times over with minimal success.

A sticking point

I’m going to be totally straight: if you loathe thicker creams, Skinfix products might not be your thing. Like the Body Repair Balm, the Rash Repair Balm is thick in consistency and has a paste-like texture. You have to spend more time working the product into the skin. But, once it's in, your skin feels instantly soothed.

All in all, Skinfix makes some groundbreaking products that I highly recommend to anyone battling winter-skin woes. Plus, it’s fairly inexpensive, so it won’t break your bank account. Who doesn't like that?
