10 Products That Keep The Office AC From Sucking The Life Out Of My Skin

Some are in my desk, some are at home, and all are completely, totally, indisputably necessary.

I wish I was working in the XO offices where I could raid their beauty “closet,” ooh and ahh over Emily’s latest dresses, and give the very stressed Marci one of my phenomenal back massages (I do my best work on other people’s backs).

Instead, I’m stuck across the world in Singapore as the Shopping Channel Editor at inSing.com.

I love my editorial team, and I like my job, but I hate the office. It’s a cesspool of mediocrity. The neighborhood is a ghetto, and not even a cool ghetto--just a weird one. There’s nowhere to have lunch, and to make it worse, the office air conditioner is always set to subzero. I’m pretty sure somebody either wants to see nipple action on the nubile young interns or is experiencing hot flashes.

Either way, it’s not fun for us. It’s 95 degrees outside, and probably 50 degrees indoors. The air conditioning is sucking the youth out of my skin, which is why I have an arsenal of beauty products in my drawer at work to help bring life back to my skin.

SebaMed Moisturizing Body Lotion

This is what I use on my eczema spots when I get itchy in the office. The good thing is my eczema is triggered by heat and humidity, so I’m pretty much a happy camper eczema-wise in the office most of the time.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

I use this moisturizer when I need to go for after-work events. It gives me a dewy finish, and it’s easy to apply with my fingers.

Giorgio Armani Face Fabric

I use this as an under-eye brightener when I have meetings or if I have to go for mid-day events. I still have some remnants of the foundation I put on in the morning, so I don’t need an additional full face of makeup--just little touch-ups where I need it most.

Vaseline Lip Therapy

For my lips. Duh.

Hadanomy Collagen Mist

I’ve mentioned this product before, and I’ll mention it repeatedly. I’m convinced my colleagues come up to my desk under the pretense of talking to me when all they want is a spritz of this stuff, and I don’t blame them.

Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy in Lavender

I’ve tried a billion hand creams because my mother is obsessed with them, and this tops our charts. The lavender scent is gentle and the lotion does what it promises: leaves you with supple skin that can go back to whipping up articles about skirts and shoes. You know, the most important things in life.

Also, lots of water.

It doesn’t stop there. I have more AC-combating beauty secrets up my sleeve when I get home.

Aloe vera gel

My parents bought it by the truckload on their recent trip to Sri Lanka. I slather it on my arms and legs before bed. It absorbs quickly, and it’s unscented. (Australian Gold makes a good one.)

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster

I use a drop or two of it, and it really moisturizes like it promises. I have so much love for Dermalogica products, I can’t even begin to tell you.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is one magical bottle! It’s an overnight repair serum, and you use only two drops of it for your whole face, making it definitely worth the money.

Dermalogica Ultracalming Relief Masque

I’m a bigger fan of sheet masks than I am of masks that come out of tubes or jars, but I use this once a week to make sure my skin calms the F down. And considering how long I spend in the AC when I’m in Singapore, my skin definitely needs it. Be sure to mask all the way down to your cleavage!

Is your office AC abusive to your skin? What do you use to bring it back to life?
