My Skin Rebelled, But These Rose Hip Formulas Smacked Some Sense Into It

When I was asked to try Kosmea, I was a little skeptical of the products but willing to go for it. I'm glad I did.

Recently, my skin has been a jerk.

I guess it was just in a slump and needed a helping hand. I might have been going a little too heavy on the chemical exfoliators and a little too light on the nourishment, and my face rebelled. My skin was sandpapery, dull, and I had a couple scars hanging around that were seriously marring what is usually a pretty even canvas.

Even worse, I was caking on foundation and concealer every morning in an attempt to remedy the horrors lurking below. My skin was basically suffocating.

When I was asked to try Kosmea's line of rose-hip-based products, I was a little skeptical but willing to go for it. I'd been relying too long on products that were, to put it plainly, intense. My skin is incredibly sensitive, so taking it easy and using things that were gentler and (ahem, sorry Marci) more natural, was appealing.

I was given instructions on how to get the best out of Kosmea's star product, their Skin Clinic Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil. Full of essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants, this serum-like oil is light, with an amber hue that gives skin a subtle but peppy boost of colour before sinking in to leave your face very soft. Applying it directly to dry skin won't do though, and I was informed to use the Hydrating Rosewater Mist to help prep the skin for the oil and allow it to sink in even better. The mist is lovely, though I imagine any spritz-on rosewater would work effectively as well. Finally, I'll smooth on the Replenishing Moisture Cream for an extra boost, thanks to its soothing and protecting green tea extract. The Rose Hip Oil alone is incredibly moisturizing, but this just makes my skin glow even more.

I particularly love doing this whole process as soon as I get out of the shower, when my skin feels the most dry and tight. As soon as I get my little Kosmea regimen accomplished, I can't stop touching my face obsessively and cooing about how soft it feels.

Another product from the line I'm really impressed with is the Daily Facial Exfoliant. Most natural brands' exfoliators tend to be full of sharp shards of whatever, but Kosmea's is nice thanks to a powdery base, with kaolin clay and rice flour to gently buff away flakes. You can also leave it on for a few minutes to help draw out dirt, thanks to the kaolin base.

If I were to recommend just one product from the line, I would say spring for the Rose Hip Oil and pair it with any natural facial mist you can get your hands on. I think with the oil, you truly get a real bang for your buck, since you only need to use three drops a day to cover your whole face, which means a single bottle will last you ages.

Rumour has it that Miranda Kerr is obsessed with it, and used Kosmea's products as the inspiration behind her own (pricier) skincare line. Apparently she used the oil during her pregnancy to prevent stretch marks, so I mean, if a Victoria's Secret model does it…

I've been using the oil for a few weeks now and I can thankfully say I no longer have to cake on layers and layers of makeup to make me feel good about my skin. I'm gonna keep up my little regimen and if anything changes, I'll let you know, but in the meantime, I'm incredibly happy.
