I basically called my mom for help. Except when I say mom, I mean an esthetician.
I'm pretty bad about staying on top of moisturizing my body skin throughout the winter, so when it gets hot, I start scrambling like a madwoman to get it in tip-top condition.
Every year, I go through the same exact no-fail routine to give my skin a nice glow without being super-greasy. There are still plenty of warm days ahead, so give it a try and let me know if it works for you, too!
Step 1: Exfoliation
When it comes to my facial skin, I opt for chemical exfoliation over physical scrubs. However, given the level of dryness of the rest of my skin from the shoulders down (especially on my arms and legs) I tend to favor the latter in this case.
I usually alternate between dry brushing and using a body scrub to get my flaky skin. My favorite in-shower scrub is the SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask. This is actually intended for the face; I find it's too harsh for that purpose, but it's perfect for the body.
Step 2: Overnight Hydration
For this step, I like to slather on a generous amount of coconut oil all over the areas I am most dry and let it sink into my skin overnight. I usually wear a lightweight long-sleeve shirt so as to not be covered in cat hair the next morning.
My skin soaks up coconut oil like its life depends on it (which is very well might), so when I wake up the next morning, it's super-soft and not greasy.
Step 3: Glow Enhancement
For this step, instead of using a self-tanner, I add a few drops of liquid illuminator to my daily lotion and apply as normal to my skin. NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam is my favorite for my skin tone.
