New Maybelline Model I-Hua Wu Is Smiling Because Her Hair Isn't Encrusted in Swarovski Crystals

Also in this week's beauty news: a teen Instagram star with an eye for beauty icons, and an idea for organizing your nail polish.

Please forgive me if my news intro is short this week. Although my job technically doesn't include comment moderation, we've got a hella small staff, so I've been trying to help Caitlin and Amber moderate the comments on a very intense xoJane article that went up on Monday. There's always room for debate and disagreement in the comments, but if you come in just to harass or threaten our readers or authors WE WILL DELETE YOUR ASS.

Maybelline finally has an Asian model that will be seen in global campaigns

It's kind of crazy to think that, despite being in business for a century and having Asian models in regional ads, Maybelline has never had a global face of Asian descent. But I'm glad to hear that model I-Hua Wu will now have the same kind of visibility as other global Maybelline faces like Christy Turlington, Jourdan Dunn and Gigi Hadid.

The Cut interviewed the gorgeous Taiwanese soon-to-be-superstar, and I find the story of how she got into modeling kind of hilarious. In high school, "my mom saw a company was holding a modeling competition, sponsored by an agency. My mom signed me up. It wasn’t to become a model; it was to meet other tall people like me."

That is friggin' adorable.

This couldn't have been easy to wash out...

You thought fashion week has been over for a while, haven't you? Well, SURPRISE! It's still underway around the world. Did some seasons of America's Next Top Model teach you NOTHING?!

Redken posted a photo to Instagram of a hairstyle Philip Barwick did for Swarovski at their Australia Fashion Week show, and it's especially appropriate for the crystal brand:

I wonder if, after the show, the model was like, "Fuck it. Just cut it off," and then put it in a glass display case. I would.

There is currently a miniature Eiffel Tower made of nail polish bottles at Cannes

And we might have not heard about it if Blake Lively wasn't such an avid Instagrammer.

Eif-fel for this tower 😍💅🏼😍

It appears to be all L'Oreal lacquer... and Blake's pun appears to be something that would make Jane Pratt lose sleep.

This beauty-loving teen has done some of xoVain's favorite iconic looks on her Instagram

Annelies van Overbeek is a Belgian 17-year-old who has "big dreams and a vivid imagination," according to her Instagram bio. She also has a lot of makeup and hair talent, and taste in beauty icons that's quite similar to xoVainers'.

For reals, when I saw this photo of her as Audrey Hepburn, I was like, HANNAH, IS THAT YOU?

Speaking of Audreys, here's her interpretation of Twin Peaks' Audrey Horne, a look Beth wrote about back in the day.

And her Snow White is absolutely lovely, just like Lauren's.

It seems like she hasn't been doing these little self-makeovers for very long — only about four or five months — but her beautiful photos have earned her almost 30,000 Instagram followers.

My personal favorite? Her spot-on Scarlet O'Hara. My least favorite? Her well-intentioned but maybe-not-entirely-appropriate Anne Frank. It's tasteful and pretty and clearly not meant to be disrespectful, but I'm just not sure how I feel about reducing a teenage Holocaust victim to beauty inspo.

Anyway, I'll be over here straddling this emotional fence.
