OPEN THREAD: What's Been Your Favorite xoVain Article So Far?

Let's reminisce before we start looking ahead!

You know how Facebook is all like, "Hey! Look over here! Here's some stuff you posted on this date years ago"? For the most part, I am not amused by my past posts —what the hell was I even talking about? — especially the ones where we were all still writing our statuses in the third person because the format was a sentence starting with our names. *shudder*

But yesterday, I saw a throwback that I loved. Facebook showed me a status of mine from 2012 in which I basically shouted gleeful exclamations, followed by an apology that I couldn't give more details about why I was so psyched.

That was the day I found out I got the gig here at xoVain.

To those of you who have been reading xoVain from the beginning, the official three-year anniversary comes on March 1, 2016, but I was onboard for about three months before that, finding writers, brainstorming with Annie and Jane, and generally pinching myself because I couldn't believe my career hero hired me.

Many faces on xoVain have come and gone (and some have come back again), some former freelancers have launched full-time editorial careers after starting out here, and even I went through a few changes in roles: I started as beauty director, went freelance for about a year (while still contributing and freelance-editing on the xoJane side), and then came back as executive editor.

But despite the many changes, there are articles I absolutely adore from all three years xoVain has been around so far. And I bet you have some favorites, too.

So, in the next week or two, we're thinking of re-running an oldie-but-goody once a day until the new year. Now, don't hold me to this — we're still trying to decide whether or not to do it. But if we do, I'd love your input.

So, for today's Open Thread, I ask you:

  • What are your all-time favorite xoVain articles?
  • If you could resurrect one writer that ghosted, who would it be?
  • Who do you want to see more of from our current crop?
  • Do you want to be part of the current crop? Send me an email about what you'd like to write about with PITCH in the subject line.
