It's gonna get sappy up in here.
In case you couldn’t tune in, last night was the 2015 Emmy Awards, and a lot of fantastic things happened.
Viola Davis of How to Get Away with Murder made an incredible speech after becoming the first black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama. For all you Game of Thrones fans/beauty addicts, the show won Outstanding Drama Series and a total of 12 Emmys, beating The West Wing’s previous record of 9 Emmy wins. And of course, who could forget how well Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer paired as presenters, leading Twitter to practically beg the two to host the Oscars?
Since I spend more time swatching lipsticks than watching TV, I, of course, was more interested in the glam process than the actually awards show. Thanks to these 10 Instagrams, I actually got to catch a glimpse of the beautifying process, from the celebs themselves.
The Modern Family actress, who rocked romantic waves at the show, shared stuff on her personal Instagram and Allure’s for the night. Talk about multitasking! (And I love how there are so many hair extensions in the background.)
Not gonna lie, this pic is making me want to buy Burt’s Bees stuff later today.
You gotta love a girl who knows the importance of the downward stare when showing off her eye makeup. Here, the Game of Thrones actress is showing us a purply cut-crease look paired with bold brows and nude lips. In other pics, you see that it looks like a subtle cat eye when she opens her eyes. So pretty.
Is anyone else feeling brow envy?
Uzo Aduba, who took home her second Emmy for Orange Is the New Black, this time for best supporting actress, filled her Instagram with a mix of getting ready shots and fun selfies backstage and in the audience. I haven’t seen much of the show, but I instantly like her because of those fun pics.
THERE IS SO MUCH TO LOOK AT IN THIS PIC.
Padma Lakshmi looked absolutely stunning in her chartreuse gown. Her makeup, which combined brown smoky eyes with red-orange lips, was on-point, and she kept her hair neat and simple. . . But THAT BURGER THO.
Being the klutz that I sometimes am, I don’t know if I would’ve had the audacity to hold a greasy sandwich so close to that dress. Padma Lakshmi, you are so much braver than I am.
While a lot of celebs were posting pics from fancy hotel suites (probably), the actress was posting from her own home—with cute pics of her family in the background.
Unlike a lot of celebs who stuck to nude colors for their cheeks and lips, she sported pink cheeks and soft, peachy-pink cheeks. It looked so lovely and fresh on her.
You could argue that Nancy O’Dell just likes taking a bunch of selfies, based on the amount of pics she posted of herself, but I’m convinced it’s actually because she KNOWS her hair and makeup—waves with peach lips and cheeks—look amazing, and she just wants to document it with whoever happens to be there.
Due to the contrast between her black hair and pale skin, Laura Prepon, from Orange Is the New Black, tends to looks very striking. However, I think her makeup for the evening—warm cheek and lip colors—really helped soften her look. She's like a gothy angel.
I have never watched Real Housewives of Atlanta, but I just find Porsha Williams, who represented Dish Nation at the red carpet, to be so beautiful! Those smoky eyes! Those pink lips! And the fishtail braid really set her beauty game apart last night. Props to her hair and makeup artist. She looks fab.
Teyonah Parris, from Mad Men and currently on Survivor’s Remorse, was one of the few in attendance who actually posted her nail art, so I knew I had to mention it here. Her soft watercolor-like nails were a work of art. (If you’re wondering how to do the nail art, lucky you, because Allison recently did a tutorial.
Not only did Heidi Klum give us a glimpse at her get-ready routine for the Emmys, she also managed to have a fun photo shoot outdoors at some beautiful location with her glam squad before the event.
I always think her makeup looks amazing, and even though I wasn’t crazy about her dress, I still enjoyed looking through her pics because she always looks like she’s having a good time.
I have to give a disclaimer: These picks are strictly dedicated to beauty Instagrams of the Emmys. If I had to come up with a list of the best makeup of the night, the list would be probably different with some overlap. And that begs the question: Who do you think had the best makeup and hair at the Emmys?
