Two of my friends are getting married to one another (one of whom you may know over at the Hairpin) this winter, and of course I’m excited. After surprising them with an IRL book club meeting disguised as an engagement party, booking 16 of us to accompany their honeymoon, and snaking my way onto the decorating committee, there’s only one thing left to do. Choose my winter wedding look for their big day.

While summer is the popular time of year to say your vows, it’s also hot as hell, making it impossible to wear a full face of makeup without sweating it off. Thankfully, the wedding is taking place in December, so I am preparing to bring out the full artillery. No shadow, glitter, cat-eye, or false eye lash shall be left behind.

But I need your assistance! I am employing all of you to help me decide between the two different beauty looks below. The wedding is to be casual and low-key, but fashionable. I'm planning to wear this dress. (It’s currently in the mail or else I'd have worn it below). Think you can help?

Look number one features bold lips and eyes with a whole lot of shimmer.

I start by massaging a small amount of Glossier Priming Moisturizer onto my face, followed by dabbing Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer on. After it absorbs, I apply YSL Touché Éclat in a V-shape to my under-eye circles.

After brushing upward, I line the edges of each brow and fill in any sparse areas using Tarte Amazonian Clay Brow Mousse. I then finish by swiping concealer below and above each brow to cover any stray hairs.

Next I use a damp beautyblender to apply a thin layer of Buxom Weightless Foundation. I then blot Stila Convertible Color in Camellia, a warm peach, onto my cheeks.

To create a glow-y complexion, I dust a generous amount of Sephora Blush Me in Abricot, a sheer rose with gold shimmer, along my cheekbones. Sadly, this product has been discontinued, but here are two other great highlighters to try.

From the Urban Decay Vice3 Palette, I apply Reign, a rich coffee, on each eyelid, and MAC Heirloom Mix Glitter in gold overtop. Along my brow bone, I sweep on Verve, a glistening oyster, from the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette.

Next I line my top lids with Stila Liquid Liner, extending outward and up toward my brow to create a cat-eye. Afterward, I apply Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes in Flirty.

I finish by lining my bottom lids with a black pencil and do one last sweep of glitter on my brow bone, crease, and inner corner of each eye.

For lips, I apply Kate Moss Rimmel London Lipstick in 107, a matte berry, and add a dab of gloss to the center of lips. Now excuse me as I go dance and sweat off all this makeup.

Look number two is inspired by The O.C. winter dance in Season 2 Episode 5. Yes, you read that correctly.

I repeat steps one to three from the previous tutorial (including highlighter), this time swapping in Physicians Formula in Blushing Rose, a warm peachy-pink, for cheek color.

On my lids, I apply Alien, a bubblegum pink with a golden finish from the Urban Decay Vice3 Palette. In the outer corner/crease, I blend a touch of Alchemy, a deep fuchsia.

After lining my bottom lids with white liner, I sweep Bobby Dazzle, a frosty metallic, below and inside the inner corner of each eye.

I then tightline my upper lids using liquid eyeliner, apply Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes in Sultry, and swipe a couple coats of mascara on.

To complete look two, I swipe on Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy, a soft neutral pink, and add a blob of Mac Lipglass to the center.

Don’t mind me, you guys. I’ll just be over here wooing all the family members with smart but non-controversial conversation.
