I’m all about the love over here, so despite being a card-carrying member of the Single Ladies Club, I’m still excited to get dolled up for Valentine’s Day. If there is one thing I have in overabundance, it’s makeup, so I came up with two looks to suit your V-Day needs.

If Your Makeup Bag Is All Drugstore All The Time...

Start by priming your face and eyelids. I used Neutrogena Shine Control Primer on my face and e.l.f. Essential Eyelid Primer on my lids. I wanted a nice cat-eye effect so I used Scotch tape as a guide.

Now sweep a matte maroon eye shadow (such as Makeup Geek's Bitten) all over your mobile lid. For your crease, work in an earthy brown (I used L'Oréal Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Bottomless Java) and blend it out with a shimmering copper, like Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eye Shadow in Bella Copper.

To highlight my brow bone and inner tear duct, I used the Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eye Shadow in Bella Champagne. Then I amped up dimension on the lid by packing on some Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Burlesque (a metallic burgundy) to the very center of my mobile lid.

I gave myself a winged liner look using Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner and an angled e.l.f. brush, coated my lashes with the L'Oréal Voluminous Original Mascara in Blackest Black, and filled in my brows with the Shea Moisture Pan Shadow in Claudia.

Once I finished the eyes, I carefully peeled off the tape, and cleaned up any fallout. For the face I used Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin and L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal and topped it with a dusting of NYX Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation.

I decided to go bold with the lips, using the Maybelline Color Sensation Creamy Matte Lip Color in Divine Wine.

If Your Beauty Budget Is On The Spendy Side

Same deal as before: prep and prime. I used BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector down my T-zone and Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion on my lids.

For the eyes I started with the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows in the shade I550 Olive Grey on the mobile lid and added the shade I606 Pinky Earth to the crease.

I went back over the crease area with a tawny brown (Buck, from my Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette) to smooth out any harsh lines, and highlighted my brow bone with a light silver (Virgin, also from my Naked palette).

Next I lined my upper and lower lash line with Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Gel Eye Liner in Perfect black and smudged my upper and lower lash line with Creep (a silver-flecked black shadow) from the Naked 1, adding MUFE Artist Shadow in M600 Pink Brown to the lower lash line as well.

I filled in my brows with the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade and finished the eyes with a few coats of CK One Mascara and a dash of Sin (a light, shimmery pink) from the Naked 1 on the inner tear duct area.

To even out my complexion and conceal my under-eye circles, I used Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation and MAC Pro Longwear Concealer.

Finally, I topped my cheeks with MAC Powder Blush in Pinch Me and added some contouring with Tyra by Tyra Banks Sculpt in a Stick.

  • Do you guys like to get fancy for Valentine’s Day?
  • What are your plans this year? I’ve got a hot date with my couch and a good book. (We’re pretty serious.)
