3 Unapologetically Shimmery and Colorful Holiday Makeup Looks

It's as if the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future were makeup looks... sort of.

The holidays are stressful for many reasons. That’s why I always like to plan ahead with my looks — it’s my therapeutic way of mentally preparing myself for something. I came up with three options for any mood I might be in:

The Instagram-approved Christmas

This look is easy, festive AF and all over Instagram. It’s quite easy to do if you already have the white and red liner.

For all looks I start with my base and brows already applied, and I’m using my Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte palette.

I applied Free Spirit on my lid and I defined my crease with Force of Nature.

Next, I took my Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in Iridescent Red and drew on a cat-eye. Make sure you draw the wing quite thick.

Using my Essence Liquid Ink eyeliner in Light White, I drew white stripes into the cat-eye. I wanted the stripes to be random in thickness and distance.

I finished the eyes by applying mascara and false eyelashes. On the lower lashline I applied my Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Nude to open up the eye more.

I finished the face by applying my go-to highlight combo: Sunburst, Dripping in Gold and Golden Bronze, all from my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow. On the outer part of the cheeks I also applied some of my Milani Baked Bronzer in Rose d'Oro to stay within the red theme of the look. On the lips I applied my Milani Amore Mattalic Lip Crème in Mattely in Love.

Golden Christmas

The next look is quick, easy and quite editorial. This is the sort of look I'd go to when I'm hungover and still need to make an impact.

Again, I already applied my base and brows.

I gave my hooded eyes a little more definition with Power Player from the Tarte Tartelette Matte Palette and defined my lower lash line and outer corner with some black eyeshadow.

Next, I took my Makeup Geek Sparkler in Asteroid, a gold glitter, and diluted it with contact solution. In a light patting motion, I patted it onto my lid. I wanted the shape of the gold glitter to be quite square and bold, so that’s what I did. I really don’t mind the gold glitter moving around either; I think it’s part of the charm of this look. I finished the eyes with mascara. You could go with false lashes, if you want, but I didn’t feel like it here.

I completed the look with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu on the lips and my go-to Glow Kit combination on the cheeks.

Goth Christmas

For this look I'm staying within the pink and burgundy theme— a color combination I’m into lately.

I defined my eyes with the pink/brown row from my Tarte Tartelette Matte Palette. I first used Caregiver all over the lid. Next, I defined my crease with Natural Beauty. I used Best Friend to create more depth. And sort of like a sandwich effect I used the darkest shade (Bombshell) in the inner and outer part of my lid and blended that out.

Using a fluffy blending brush, I applied Colourpop's 3 eyeshadow around the lower lash line.

I took my Makeup Geek Sparkler in Halo and contact solution and used that to create a cat-eye. Again, I don't mind this transferring a little, but if you do you should wait for it to dry before you do anything else. Then I just applied mascara and falsies, and on the lower waterline I used my Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eye Liner in Plumeria.

I highlighted the cheeks, nose, cupids bow and inner corner of the eye with my Colourpop highlighter in Hippo because it stayed within the pink theme really well. I applied some of Bubbly from my Glow Kit. On the lips I applied OCC Lip Tar in Black Metal Dahlia.
