Drugstore products can make you look cute as hell.

If you were to dig through my beauty products, you'd probably come face-to-face with a lot of luxury brands. I can't help myself, I'm drawn to fancy.

That said, I'm not a snob. There are plenty of drugstore brands that I reach for again and again, with products that work just as well (and sometimes even better) than their higher-priced competitors.

One such brand is Wet 'n' Wild. The L.A.-based, cruelty-free company has been pumping out classics for 30 years, and they've been a steady favourite of both beauty beginners and aficionados all the while. Think back to when you were first learning your way around the beauty game; chances are you were spending your allowance on products from WnW. After all, they're the ones responsible for the first mass-marketed black nail polish (shout-out to my baby goths), and you couldn't pick up a magazine in 1999 without finding a celebrity recommending the brand's lip liner in #666, Brandy Wine.

I remember sometime in junior high, purchasing a shimmery champagne-hued face powder from WnW, housed in their old school white plastic packaging with the navy blue writing. Even though I was but a wee one, I somehow inherently knew to apply that stuff below my eyebrows and along the tops of my cheekbones, highlighting like a pro. Thanks for that, Wet 'n' Wild!

But let's flash forward to now, OK? While their collection still contains many of the classics, there have been plenty of new additions in recent times that really stand out. Their collaboration with Fergie, in particular, is pretty fab. It started with a collection of really fun nail polishes and has branched out to include eyeshadow palettes, eye primer, gel liner, lip colour, shimmer powder and more. Fergie herself even tested the liner out on the treadmill to make sure it didn't budge through an intense workout.

Since I had so much fun playing around with WnW's choice offerings, I figured I would put together a look for you guys that shows you it's super easy to look put-together and chic on a major budget.

To start off, I focused on the eyes. I first applied their new Take On The Day Primer from the Fergie Center Stage collection, which I'm majorly impressed with. It goes on a creamy, light beige but leaves a soft, silky finish and any shadow you apply over it is immediately amplified. I've been using it not just under WnW's shadows but even under my higher-priced shades, and it really helps to increase colour payoff and keep everything in place. Strong recommend!

Next I reached for the classic, super-cheap Color Icon Brow And Eye Pencil in Black. With basically every makeup look I wear, I always wiggle black liner in between my lashes and along the upper, outer waterline to really give definition, open up my eyes, and make my lashes look thicker. This black pencil is crazy-affordable, but it applies smooth and has a perfectly pitch-black hue that stays put.

For the shadow, I picked the Fergie Photo Focus Eyeshadow palette in Desert Festival. I love this one because it has really pretty neutral shades in matte and shimmery finishes but also has those orangey-peach shades that look amazing on blue and green eyes.

I started using a large, fluffy eyeshadow brush to apply the beige shimmer shade all over my eyelid, up towards my brow bones, and into the inner corners.

I then applied the matte, peachy-red shade into my outer crease for a pop of colour that would contrast my green eyes.

Finally, I used a very small, short-bristled shadow brush to first apply the dark brown shimmer shade along my outer upper and lower lash lines to give a smoky effect. To make my eye colour look even brighter, I used the same small brush to layer the peach shimmer over top of that smoky shadow. The overall effect was eyes that looked bigger, brighter and smouldering.

A final application of Mega Impact Mascara on my upper and lower lashes made sure my lashes were lengthened, thickened and defined.

When I attended the WnW preview a few weeks ago, I was immediately drawn to their MegaLast Lip Color in 24 Carrot Gold. It's a gorgeous bright, peachy-orange that brightens up your face (and my mood, seeing how dreary this winter has been).

These lipsticks are creamy (thanks to coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A and E), pigmented beautifully, and since they're so affordable, you can pick up trendy shades to test out without worrying about going over budget. Hooray!

I applied this with a small lip brush and then blotted for a matte finish.

I warmed a bit of the lipstick between my fingers and blended it into the apples of my cheeks to give me some colour (and double-duty products save money).

Then I used a fan brush to brush on the Fergie To Reflect Shimmer Palette in Rose Champagne Glow along the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. This shimmer powder has a champagne-coloured base that reminds me of the shimmer powder from WnW I used to use as a tween, with swirls of pale pink throughout to add a touch of warmth. It's pretty and subtle and great for giving dull skin a quick boost.

OVERALL COST [drumroll here] … $23.74

Now, if you want to step it up a notch, you can add in the shimmery, shiny gold Fergie Nail Color in Gold Album for a little more oomph. It's only $3.49 to have nails this pretty, so I say go for it.

It's a full-face, super-polished look that won't send you into the poor house. Are you into it?

Tell me about your earliest Wet 'n' Wild memories! I love thinking about xoVainers as little Muppet Babies, sponging on lip gloss and painting their little Muppet fingernails. Uhhh ... this weather is getting to me.
