International Beauty Swap: Here’s What Morgan Sent from New Zealand to Kansas

Makeup, more makeup, and chocolate!

Anytime I get a package in the mail, I get excited — especially when it’s a package of beauty goodies! And what could possibly make a package full of beauty goodies better? Why, a package full of goodies I can’t get in America (at least not easily) of course!

Morgan and I decided to send each other a few fun beauty items from our home countries so we could see what’s going down on the other side of the ocean.

Morgan sent me quite a bit of stuff so I broke it down into categories:

Lucas' Papaw Ointment

This was already a staple in my kit and I was so happy Morgan sent it to me because I was running out. I use this ointment as a precursor to matte lipstick so my lips don't get Sahara-dry. It also has served well this cold season in keeping my nose from getting too raw.

Karen Murrell Natural Lipstick in Rymba Rhythm

This lipstick is so perfect it boggles my brain. First of all, it smells like cinnamon candy (which I am totally down for) and the formula is so smooth — lip balm smooth. It feels like I'm just sliding on a tinted balm, but the color is a gorgeous, vibrant, orange-red. And for being so smooth, it really stays on my lips. I wear this lipstick at least twice a week if not more. I just love it!

Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in Tok-i-o and Mum-bai

These are very similar to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams as far as texture goes, but let me tell you: once you get these on, they are staying on come hell or high water. I think the Tok-i-o is such a cool shade of purple and it will be super-fun for summer. Mum-bai is a super-dark purple that I can't wait to bust out come fall.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Velvet 03

This liquid lipstick has a really interesting texture. It feels slightly more mousse-like than the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, but it doesn't dry down quite as matte. It is slightly drying, but nothing I'm not used to as an avid lipstick wearer. I've been living for orange-red lipsticks, so this is such a great color as well.

Art Deco Eyeshadow

These shadows can pop in and out of the palette (they're magnetic) so you can customize your trios, which I love. The colors Morgan picked will make for a perfect smoky eye (perhaps an upcoming LOTW?). All of the shadows are well-pigmented and I only got a little fall-out when I used them.

Chi Chi Brow Pomade

Morgan mentioned this was a drugstore brand, so I assumed it would perform much like the NYX Brow Pomade and require a slightly heavier hand to get the right amount of darkness. WRONG! I very quickly learned that this pomade requires a very light touch to get a natural but enhanced brow. Once I got the hang of it, though, I loved it. It's very creamy, yet it doesn't budge once it sets. I think I even like it better than my beloved Dip Brow!

Miki Intense Colour Liquid Eyeliner

I'm a little bit intimidated by traditional liquid liners (I always seem to make a mess of things unless I'm using a pen) but the brush on this wasn't too flimsy, so I was able to line my upper lash line with ease. It didn't say that it was waterproof, but it seemed to stay on really well despite my allergy-related eye-watering.

Miki Volume Mascara

I would say that this mascara provides length more than it does volume. I like my lashes to look pretty thick unless I'm doing a more natural look so this won't probably be my every day, but is definitely a good mascara. What I was most impressed with though was how well this stayed on. I mean, I had to bust out the coconut oil to get it off!

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush

This blush reminds me a lot of NARS Orgasm, it's a peachy-pink with gold threaded through. This shade reads a little light on my cheeks, but I've actually really been loving it on my eyes.

Bourjois Aqua Blush

This blush is no joke — the tiniest bit gives me a big flush of color. I pump just a tiny amount on the back of my hand first and then use a stippling blush to apply to my cheeks. This is definitely one of the most long-wearing "cream" blushes I have tried!

This makeup remover worked really well, and I didn't think it was too oily, which is a pet peeve of mine. I was able to remove some of my toughest liners, too.

I haven't tried the chocolate yet, but I'm sure it's delicious!

I'm saving the Art Deco Shadows and the Velourlips for upcoming LOTW posts, so stay tuned for those! And come back tomorrow to see what I sent to Morgan!
