Melt-Proof Summer Makeup Using Just 4 Products

Calling all lazy girls: you can do this in five minutes and wear it day or night.

For someone who gets paid to write about makeup, I rarely wear it. It’s not that I don’t love makeup, I'm just a little lazy, or incredibly busy doing other things, like writing about makeup. Or watching old episodes of 30 Rock. Or kissing my boyfriend. Or doing literally anything other than spending an hour blending eyeshadow that's destined to melt off in the 100% humidity. It’s a cruel summer, yo.

I’m always trying to nail a look that takes minimal time and products, which is how I came up with this little system. It only uses four products and it can go from summer day to summer night, because, let's face it, lazy girls like me don't change their makeup halfway through the day.

Product #1: Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream ($35) / Product #2: The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum ($21)

My skin has been in good shape lately (thanks, veganism!), so I’m not relying on any sort of foundation or concealer. Rather, I’ve been mixing a tiny bit of Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream with The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum because both products are light enough to wear in the heat.

Product #3: MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme ($16)

To make my eyes look more, well, awake, I use MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme in Deep Dark Brunette as a brow product and eyeliner. I wrote about it a while ago and it has been rocking steady for me all summer.

For both brow and liner, I’m using a brow brush from Real Techniques that’s stiff enough to draw clean lines but soft enough for my sensitive baby eyelids.

Product #4: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick ($7.49)

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Electric Orange goes on my cheeks and my lips, because this tutorial is all about double-duty! Plus, this is my FAVORITE orange lip color. It's hydrating, long-lasting, and it goes on smooth and opaque, with a bit of shine. I also like that it’s cool enough not to emphasize how coffee/red wine stained my teeth are. To use it as a blush, dab it four or five times on the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards toward the hairline.

BLAMMO! I'm done.

See? Easy as pie, and who doesn’t love pie?

Do you have a lazy summer beauty look? What are your favorite multi-tasking products? Do you wanna complain about the heat together? Holla!
