LOTW: The Makeup That's Making Me Smile After Surgery

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been MIA on the LOTW scene for the last couple of weeks (HUGE thanks to Trista for rocking it in my absence).

A couple of weeks ago I was involved in a car accident on my way to church that left me out of commission for a bit. Thankfully, I made it out with just some bumps, bruises, and a broken ankle, but recovery has been rough at times.

As silly as it may seem, I didn’t really start to feel like myself again until I got my hands on some makeup.

I didn't have the patience or energy to go through my normal foundation/concealer routine. So I opted for a makeshift tinted moisturizer (a mix of foundation and moisturizer) and used my clean hands to blend it all over my face. For my eyes, I used a clean finger to apply a soft wash of Champagne eye shadow and followed up with a couple coats of mascara.

The week following my surgery, I felt like my skin looked really dull, so I relied on luminizer to fake a glow.

I also kept my blush warm, using a mix of MAC Blush in Gingerly and MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul. With this kind of look I typically like to wear a neutral lip as well because it’s low maintenance and keeps the overall vibe more natural.

I had so much fun looking through all the lovely pictures of you guys last week. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Do you guys find makeup as therapeutic as I do?
  • How do you freshen up when you aren't feeling your best?
