International Beauty Swap: What Hannah Sent from Ireland to New Jersey

These makeup goodies are giving me a taste of what awaits me in the beauty aisles across the pond.

When I tell people I enjoy travelling, I often feel like I'm lying. How can I say that when I've only been to a few countries, most of which are in Asia, and most of that time traveling is spent in the same country?

My heart longs to broaden my horizons and see other places, and one of the places at the top of my list is Europe. I'll spare you a list of all the major tourist attractions I want to see (OK, fine — I want to see the Eiffel Tower really badly). Just know that I plan to be in full-on tourist mode when I arrive and that I intend on filling half my luggage with beauty goodies.

Since a lot of crazy things have been happening to me over the past few weeks, travel is the last thing on my mind. But thanks to Hannah L., I'm at least getting a taste of what the beauty world has to offer abroad.

She asked me if I wanted to do an international beauty swap with her, and of course I said yes, because Hannah is awesome, UK brands are an unexplored terrain for me, and who doesn't like getting stuff in the mail? I also really enjoy shopping for other people.

So without further ado, here's the stuff she sent me. (And thank you again, Hannah!)

EyesSleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm

This is one of the few products I requested just because I've heard such great things about Sleek and have never been able to find their products in New Jersey.

Storm consists of 12 shadows and is a mix of shimmers and mattes. I chose this collection of because it has some neutrals and deep colors, and you can't go wrong with shimmer. Here's a rundown of the shades:

  • Sand Storm: a shimmery gold
  • Snow Storm: a pale, shimmery champagne
  • Calm Before the Storm: a warm, matte, light brown
  • Thunder Storm: a very pale, shimmery, light bronze
  • Perfect Storm: a shimmery peachy pink
  • Firestorm: a shimmery copper
  • Dust Storm: a shimmery warm dark brown
  • Storm Cloud: a shimmery gunmetal
  • Gathering Storm: a shimmery forest green
  • Electric Storm: a shimmery deep blue
  • Eye of the Storm: a matte, neutral, dark brown
  • Blackout: a matte black

I've never written "storm" so many times in my life.

Overall, the shades were nicely pigmented. The only one that required extra effort to build up was Eye of the Storm since it was quite dry.

Collection Cosmetics Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in #3 Funk and #4 Hustle

One thing I don't experiment nearly enough with is glitter, but now I have a reason to with these gel liners. So far, I've only used Hustle, and it seems like a great liner to use for parties or when I'm going for a sparkly, glam look. Since I wear contacts, I was worried the glitter would be problematic, but thankfully, I didn't have any issues removing Hustle at the end of the day.

Sleek True Colour Matte Lipstick in Heartbreaker

Since it's summer, I wanted a fun, punchy color to wear often, so I also requested this. It's a bright, warm hot pink that reminds me of NARS Lipstick in Natalie. It's creamy and lasts many hours.

Barry M Genie

I am so glad Hannah included this in her package to me since '90s-throwback beauty products have a special place in my heart. This lipstick, which looks green in the bullet, magically transforms into a pink or pinky-red shade once it touches my lips. Sometimes this goes on as a sheer pink stain on my lips and sometimes it goes on very pigmented. It's exciting to guess how it'll look after each application. Formula-wise, this was lightly moisturizing and lasted about two hours on me.

FaceBarry M Illuminating Strobe Cream in Iced Bronze

My latest makeup obsession is highlighting, so I was very pleased to receive this. Barry M Illuminating Strobe Cream in Iced Bronze produces a very pretty, pale champagne-colored glow. Since I have oily skin, I have to set this with a powder, but the extra step is so worth it.

NailsTiger Nail Stickers

Hannah sent me two of these, but I got so excited, I tried one out already without photographing it. Sorry! I love the intricate designs of these nail stickers. They're great because you simply stick them on and then put on a top coat. The easiest way to do nail art ever.

I'm so excited to experiment with all these products! Props to Hannah for sending over such a fun collection of makeup to me!
