I love a red lip, but I can’t stop painting these babies pink when it gets warm out.

I love pink lipstick in the spring. I love it even more in the summer. Basically, I treat my lipstick like I treat my clothes: I would never wear neon pink pants in January, so why would I paint my lips pink? I do, however, accept that pastels are winter’s new black, and I’m definitely down with the powder pink moves.

When it comes to lipstick, I consider pink to be a softer shade of red. They’re like fraternal twins that have the same characteristics of being rich, pigmented, and classic, but one is always prettier--for me, it's the pink. There’s something about that way the sun hits the color that makes me happy.

Much like the search for the perfect red, it takes time to find the right pink for your skin tone. Since I’m more golden than anything, I’ve found that most shades I try look better on someone who either has lighter or darker skin.

As usual, my favorite pink lipstick is a limited edition RiRi Hearts MAC shade called Pleasure Bomb, which is no longer available from MAC, but I saw a tube on Amazon for $16. I loooove matte lipsticks, and this is one of the best ones out there. It's a little bit dark, but it's still pretty pink. I have another RiRi lipstick in a darker pink, called Heaux, that looks more red on my skin tone. Both of them act like a stain, so they wear long into the day.

The picture doesn’t do Tom Ford's Sheer Lip Color in Paradiso any justice, but the color is one of my favorites. It's a sheer pink, the kind that you can wear to the grocery store without having to worry about getting stares from the clerk.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Infamous is exactly how it sounds. That ish is major, honey. Not too light, not too dark, it's a great pink and it feels like satin. Pleasure Bomb might have to watch out.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Fuchsia Flash is more of a neon. It reminds me of MAC Candy Yum Yum, which is another one of my faves, but it's more subtle and rich and decidedly not matte.

Here are a few more pink lipsticks that are perfect for the summer. Most didn't work out for me (except for that Candy Yum Yum), but they'd look great on other skin tones.

What are your favorite pink lipsticks? Have you found that perfect shade? Pics, please!
