Date-Night Makeup That Looks Just As Hot The Morning After

Smudged eyeliner and soft, berry lips will last you all night and well into the next day, if you know what I mean.

It's 2AM at the dive bar. The silences between beer bottle clinks are getting longer each time. A Lana Del Rey remix croons in a sultry warble, "Will you still love meeee when I'm no longer young and beautifuuuuul?"

From across the room, you lock eyes with a mysterious stranger. Outside, a lone can of PBR rolls across the slowly emptying parking lot. In the shadowy distance, the bartender yawps a rallying cry, but you laugh, coyly look down at your Chelsea boots, and lift your gaze up again with a fluttering sigh to see him walking your way.

"Ah, last call," you think to yourself. "But the night has clearly just begun."

It's a tale as old as time, and I don't have to tell you what comes next. Soon enough, cruel morning will break through yonder window, and as you stumble barefoot into this strange bathroom, those hungover pangs will be momentarily forgotten as you catch your busted reflection in the streaky medicine cabinet mirror. Good God, Lemon.

It IS possible, though, to look just as hot the next morning as you did the night before. I've got plenty of beauty tips for your next big night out, as well as your next Stride of Pride. (It's NOT a Walk of Shame.)

And don't worry, lonely hearts. This look isn't only for dirty dalliances and date nights. Consider this a primer on looking good-to-go after any sort of evening in which one might forget to wash their face, such as all night Mad Men marathons or the week before finals. I promise I won't tell anyone how gross you are.

Don't get too crazy with contouring, highlighting and foundation because it will smear all over the pillows, and that's rude. I'm repping a sheer layer of my precious Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. I use a small amount, because I like my freckles to show through. It stays in place forever until you wash it off (which I've learned from experience--I mean, research) but I haven't had any issues with it making me breakout like some heavier foundations can.

I used Benefit Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer on the circles under my eyes, which are courtesy of the weekend I just spent in New Orleans. You can keep Boi-ing in your purse and use it for any touchups you may need in the morning, or whenever.

Waking up with eye makeup smeared all over your face is very rock and roll, but not very brunch friendly. (Brunch is ALWAYS the goal.) If you're planning on making last night's eyes work for this morning, you need to make the smudge work in your favor.

While a clean, sharp cat-eye and perfectly blended shadow is a nice look, it is one that depends on precision to achieve the desired effect. We're aiming for something a bit less precise. Also, liquid liner tends to flake off rather than smudge, and you'll just end up scratching the whole thing off. We want some creamier textures.

I started by covering my lid with a sheer layer of Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Shadow in Bad to the Bronze. This cream shadow provides shimmer and depth, but is close enough to my actual skin color that it won't look ridiculous if I smear it up a bit. Plan accordingly.

I then lined my upper lash line with Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black. This liner is creamy and smooth, and can be applied as sharply or as smudge-ly as you prefer. I used the built in smudger to smear the liner into my lash line.

As the night (or morning) wears on, this liner will melt really well into your lash line for a sexy effect. It's also easy to wipe off if it gets under your eyes too much, or across your face, or across someone else's face.

I topped off my eyes with my ride-or-die mascara, L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. It gives me the best lashes of my life, and it never flakes or smears onto my face. I have slept in it MANY times (sorry) and I wake up with lashes that are still the

To give my cheeks a sexy flush, I grabbed some Benefit Benetint. Cheek stain can be kind of intimidating at first, but it's crazy easy! I just swipe it on like war paint on the apples of my cheeks and then blend it out with my fingers. Benetint is really a perfect berry, rosy color for every day wear, especially in spring.

Just make sure to blend it quickly because it sets fast.

I rubbed some Benetint onto my lips as well, and topped it with Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me, which has a pop of color and leaves your lips soft and kissable all night.

In the morning, all you need to do to "freshen up" a bit is reapply some lip balm, and rub a bit of into your cheeks for some rosy color. Use your fingers to clean up any eyeliner smudge that may have left the realm of your eyes. The cream shadow and the liner will melt together to create a sexy, smoky morning look.

Slap a teeny bit of moisturizer on for some highlighting glow and then sneak back into bed for some cuddling and cooing: "Soooo... brunch?"

This sexy date-night makeup will last you all night, and look great in the morning, no matter whose shirt you end up wearing that day.

Have fun and be safe! Make me proud.
