A few different things happened in beauty news last week, but honestly, I tuned everything out once my eyes landed on the story about colorful freckles. LOTW was pretty much a done deal after that.

I recently saw an older tutorial on Kat Von D’s YouTube channel for a “Disintegrated Cat Eye” and thought it would be a nice complement to colorful freckles. Basically, the idea is to use pointillism to create a wing shape and then graduate that into a solid line that meets the inner corner of your eye.

So, after I applied my foundation and filled in my brows, I followed the direction I would naturally swoop my wing and began to develop that shape by creating tiny little dots with a black liquid-liner pen.

I took the dots in about a third of the way along my upper lash line before drawing a solid line the rest of the way inward.

I wanted the freckles to mimic natural freckles even though they're colorful, so I used a pointed liner brush and varied the amount of pressure I used to get darker and lighter dots.

I opted to use an emerald cream shadow for my dots but colored gel/liquid liner or even liquid lipstick on a pointed brush would work too. I tried to place the dots where I might naturally have freckles, but really, you can put them wherever you feel like!

For added dimension, I went back in with a metallic green cream shadow and added some more dots in between the emerald ones.

I also added a few cobalt blue dots just for kicks!

I decided to go with bright pink lipstick to finish the look.

Here are my favorite looks from last week:

If you’ve tried these colorful freckles, what method/products did you use? Would you wear these out and about? Let me know in the comments below or on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Don’t forget to @xoVain and #xoLOTW!
