I probably own enough lip colors to last me a lifetime, but some of my favorite lip products are balm stains. Their crayon format makes them easy to apply, they’re convenient to carry in my purse, and they are long-lasting on the lips.

I’ve tried enough different versions of balm stains to feel pretty well-versed in them, and today, I wanted to share three of my favorites with you.

Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colour

Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stains have a bit more slip to them than most balm stains so they’re not really ideal for me if I’m wanting a ton of color payout. They are however perfect for days when I want a really subtle wash of color and I don’t want to have to worry about the color fading quickly.

These usually last on my lips about four to five hours. I do have to reapply after eating, but I still really like them.

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain

I love that these babies are only three bucks and I think they are very comparable to other well-received brands. The colors all build up really well, and I find that they last about six hours and fade pretty evenly.

Jordana balm stains do have a slight scent—I can’t quite peg what it is—but it's nothing overpowering. The only thing that keeps them from being my absolute favorite is that I find they actually feel a bit dry after a few hours; not uncomfortably so, but dry nonetheless.

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain (formerly Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains)

An xoFavorite for a reason, these Revlon balm stains are my HG. They’re so smooth to apply, so hydrating on the lips, and stay comfortably on all day.

I usually get around six to eight hours of wear with these (depending on the shade), and I feel like they pack a nice punch of color (although they can be sheered out, as well).

I also love that they have a fresh minty scent to them!

OK, your turn: What balm stains—drugstore or otherwise—have your eternal love?
