Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
OK, the promotional copy insists it's not just a BB cream. The new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (phew!) is being touted as "the best of a BB, a CC, and a tinted moisturizer," a "multitasking genius," and "a whole new way to think about makeup."
If that sounds like a lot to live up to, I have to agree. After trying it out, though, bareMinerals could call this stuff "the most life-changing miracle since sliced bread, Jesus walking on water, and really stretchy jeans" and get no protest from me.
After dealing with dry winter skin, cake-y foundations, and orangey BB creams, this tinted gel cream is just what I needed. It has SPF 30 (a huge must for me) and zero fragrance, parabens, silicones, or oil. They've thought of everything.
I'm also happy to report that this comes in 10 shades, from Opal (for pinkish cool tones) to Sienna (a dark, neutral-toned brown). This is a range that some foundations don't even come in, let alone BB creams. The amount of shades and their sheer coverage ensures that everyone should be able to find a natural match--a relief for me after trying so many orange BB creams.
I tried the three lightest shades: Opal, Vanilla, and Buttercream.
The third-lightest shade, Buttercream, leans a little too dark and warm for me. The lightest shade, Opal, is very pale with a lot of pink. I prefer to use it as a highlighter because of its light-reflecting properties. The second-lightest shade, Vanilla, is perfect for me.
Here's a before photo so you can see what my skin looks like without any makeup.
Now here's how I look wearing bareMinerals Complexion Rescue in Vanilla.
I love how it looks. My whole face is bright and glowing when I wear this. The coverage is sheer but buildable, and it evens out my redness considerably. I'm not wearing any concealer above so you can see the Complexion Rescue perform alone, but I'll probably pair it with concealer on days when I want additional coverage.
I also love how it feels. It's not sticky or greasy, and it really does makes my skin feel softer and more hydrated after I've been wearing it.
The formula is quick and easy to dab on in the morning for a natural, dewy look--without having to worry about layering sunscreen or moisturizer on first. You can use the brand's Smoothing Face Brush for the most flawless application, but clean fingers work fine, too.
I've been wearing this almost daily since I got it, and will definitely purchase more when I run out. It's a little pricey for me, but I would consider it worth it--even without the skin care benefits--because of how nice it looks and feels. I had never tried anything from this brand before this, but you can consider me a bareMinerals fan now.
- Do you have a preference for BBs, CCs, or tinted moisturizers?
- Think you'll give this a try?
