Ariana Grande's New Beauty Products Are Almost as Good as Her Song "Into You"

What better time to talk about her new perfume and MAC lip colors than when her anthem is in its prime?

I need to say something.

Ariana Grande's “Into You” is the best song of the year.

I know that this is a beauty website, but not enough people are talking about this and it’s troubling me. Hold on, we’ll get there.

For the last couple of years, people have been whining about the fact that there hasn’t been a clear Song of the Summer. What is the point of summer unless we have an anthem to which we have all agreed to dance to on hot summer nights from June to September? Without a Song of the Summer, we might as well jump straight from spring to fall, and no one wants that.

So I just want to abuse my platform for just a moment to say that, while both Rihanna’s “Work” and Fifth Harmony’s “Work from Home” were strong candidates, they were released too early to carry us all the way through the season. However, “Into You” is the most transcendent, rapturous song released this year.

The way the first verse pulses to life with nothing but Ariana Grande's hushed vocals carrying it forward, exploding into a full out wail with a chorus exclaiming “I’M SO INTO YOU, INTO YOU, INTO YOU” — it's incredible.

I was at a Labor Day "kegger" (*ahem*) and someone mentioned how Whitney Houston’s 1991 recording of the Star Spangled Banner is widely thought of as the best song ever recorded, and I was like, “Oh so you haven’t heard ‘Into You.’”

I just want to make sure that we give credit where credit is due, and right now, credit goes to pop queen Ariana Grande.

And it's a good thing, because she’s got a couple new beauty products out, and what better time to talk about them than when her anthem “Into You” is in its prime?

Ariana Grande is back for a second time as the face of MAC Viva Glam with a new lipstick and lip gloss that are perfect together or worn separately. Her first Viva Glam lipstick was a deep, charred plum, while her second offering is an ultraviolet magenta. It’s the matte MAC formula we all know and love in a new, limited shade that’s vibrant and perfect for year-round wear.

The lip gloss is a mauve with just a tinge of gray to it for a bit of silver shimmer.

Are we wearing glosses again? I keep asking this question and you keep saying yes, so I guess I should just get with it.

I’ve never been a gloss girl, but I really love this shade. I paired it with a liner of the same shade.

As glosses go, it’s more on the pigmented side. I’d always pair it with a liner, but then again, I don’t wear glosses. Should I? (Clock me in the comments.)

I know that celebrity makeup collabs really get people feeling some type of way, but before you get on your soap box, I will remind you that 100% of the purchase price — not the profits, but every cent of the selling price — of the VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass goes toward helping men, women, and children living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. If that’s not a perfect excuse to buy a lipstick, I don’t know what is. Not that you needed an excuse.

Have you heard the a cappella version? OMG.

Anyway, finally, there's her third fragrance in under a year, Sweet Like Candy by Ariana Grande.

The name was pulled from a lyric from “Moonlight,” the first track from her latest album, Dangerous Woman. I really love that they used a lyric from the song to name the fragrance. It makes it feel like Ari actually has a hand in putting out the fragrance, whether or not that’s the case at this point. Most of all, it’s cute.

The name of the fragrance, I’m sure you can gather, is also a very appropriate descriptor. It's called Sweet Like Candy, and damn, is it ever. It busts open with pear, blackberry, and bergamot, hitting you from all sides with a top that is both sweet and tart. The heart of the scent lures you in with a few unassuming florals, then throws you into diabetic shock with whipped cream and marshmallow. The base is a simple pair of woods and vanilla, as if it needed it.

Her first fragrance, Ari, was a sweet but velvety scent that could be enjoyed by fans of all ages, and Frankie, a unisex scent released soon after, was a buoyant version of the original geared toward people of all genders (which I still give her a ton of props for).

Sweet Like Candy is an unapologetic sugar bomb and it's definitely geared toward Ari's younger fans. It's familiar in a way that I feel like there's a scent in everyone's younger years that mirrors this one. Is it the best celebrity scent to drop this year? No, but it's definitely the most youthful, and it will be great for your daughter, little sister, or pop-obsessed beauty writer to go back to school with this fall.
