I can't stop smelling myself!

So, I'm very sad that Julie is gone, but the silver lining is that having a couple of out-of-office beauty editors (Gala is in sometimes and India is a jetsetter who won't be back in town before New York Fashion Week) means I get first looks at all the new products that come in daily.

I may have actually said "Yoink!" as I plucked this perfume from yesterday's delivery. Vanilla + Coconut = a sophisticated trap for Emilys and assorted 6-year-old girls. A donut trail will lead us right inside.

I'm a creature of habit -- I basically wear variations of 3 different outfits: the fit and flare dress, the mod shift, or a pencil skirt and blouse. I wear the same red lipstick 90 percent of the time. I own at least 30 polka dot dresses. But I've never really found my perfume soulmate. I love Daisy, Happy and Soap and Glory Original Pink, but their scents are so light that they barely register. I want to waft, you know? I want people to walk into a party five minutes after I leave and be like, "Damn, was a fine lady in here?"

But guess what? Lavanila Vanilla Coconut is my perfume! I'm done with perfume shopping, and it feels so good, like how I imagine it will feel when that wedding band finally goes over my finger and I permanently stop shaving my upper legs.

There's a lot of mumbledy jumbledy about antioxidants and essential oils or whatever but basically it smells soooo amazing. I keep redousing myself and loudly announcing, "Mmmmm, I smell SO GOOD." The scent is described on the website as: an exotic blend of "young coconut, Tahitian taire flower and warm Madagascar vanilla." Sounds like there's some coconut ageism going on there, but other than that, delightful!

It also comes in Vanilla Lavender, Vanilla Passionfruit, Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Grapefruit and Vanilla Summer, which includes mango, pineapple and sugar cane. I want to eat everything I just wrote.

I guess all of this is to say that if you haven't found your signature scent, don't give up. Miracles happen every day, and some of them cost 42 dollars and can be purchased on the Internet. (Others retail for $54.95.)
